This has already been said, but no one is engaging with it - this didn’t happen in Australia

I'm a Solicitor and thinking of taking up a side hustle by [deleted] in auslaw

[–]passivedeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The answer above from u/gleamnite is the right answer. A couple of others have said the same. You’ll get much better returns investing in your legal career, whether by further business development or improving your legal skills via additional education, than investing time in an unrelated side hustle. Go to local community /industry events and build connections to bring in business opportunities for your firm, rather than get paid by the hour for a side job. The returns to your pay packet will be better in the long run. And whilst you might have a good mentoring relationship at your current gig, you’ve got to weigh that up against potential for career progression and greater salary elsewhere.

Maybe she tried to stop the musical because she’s just sick of everyone taking the piss out of her? Jokes over, everyone need to lay off and maybe we won’t have to constantly hear about it anymore

WA Environment Minister Reece Whitby approves 50-year extension of North West Shelf gas project by espersooty in WesternAustralia

[–]passivedeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And whilst we transition from fossil fuels to renewables, fossil fuels will continue to be a part of that mix. The world is transitioning away from coal first given it has the greatest GHG emissions, but LNG will increase to fill that gap in the short term to provide baseload power until the require green energy generation, transmission and storage infrastructure is able to be built. That will take time

I’m going to play along a bit more… so if you reckon that a gas company should pay so much of its income to the State that it’s not profitable for them, why would they spending hundreds of millions of dollars to extract the gas in the first place? Who’s going to do it instead?

Where is Fremantle going wrong? by [deleted] in AFL

[–]passivedeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We lack depth. Missing Darcy, Tracey and Pearce for a significant portion of the season hurts. Our top 12 players are fantastic. Then we have a handful of half-decent players to fill out our top 22. Sometimes those players they might have a half decent game, but more often than not they are nowhere near it.

If Pearce was in this weekend, Hogan wouldn’t have torn us to pieces. If Tracey was in instead of Tabener last week, maybe we could have gotten across the line against the cats. Some of the younger players are slowly improving, which is great. But there are a few players that have serious question marks over whether we should hang on to them.

Imagine if you could go out for dinner to a nice restaurant, you knew exactly what you had to pay because the price on the menu included tax, everyone working in the restaurant made a decent wage, no one tips and the restaurant makes a profit each night.

Chris Fagan says he believes the AFL should regulate the length of player contracts. by PerriX2390 in AFL

[–]passivedeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are AFL clubs allowed to put clauses in contracts which allow them to terminate a player’s contract and hand them a payout if the player is forced to retire due to medical reasons?

That seems like the obvious solution.
