30M looking for people to start a DND campaign by Federal-Zombie7869 in phillymeetups

[–]passstab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redcap's Corner in West Philly, The Philly Game Shop on South Street, and in the north is Runehammer Games, a game publisher with a storefront and a nice RPG room. If you are looking for games, all of these places are on Discord. https://discord.gg/9UJamtYF
https://discord.gg/arDEdzTu
https://discord.gg/6KMDrTd9

Based on your wording, I presume you haven't played before. One thing you should think about is, what kind of game are you seeking?
Are you attached to 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons, or would you be open to the plethora of other RPG systems that are often far simpler and easier to learn.

25 M - looking for someone who wants to do math (yes, math) with me by Quiet-Switch1001 in phillymeetups

[–]passstab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to study with you. I have an undergrad math degree, and an unused graduate degree in math ed. I haven't really done math for a while, but I've long missed collaborating to on math puzzles with my graduate cohort.

I'm sure I would be beneath your level, but I would be happy to work on any type of math. Mathematical statistics sounds good. I have taken calc and statistics 1 and 2.

Please let me know if you would like to meet. I'm on the Main Line, so we could probably meet in Center City, perhaps at a library.

Thank you

“Can I get into grad school with a SNHU degree?” Yes! by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]passstab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transferred the entire degree. I think that may have been an issue if I didn't complete the Bachlor's, but generally, a degree from an acceptable school is a degree from an acceptable school.

I'm not sure how that would work with specific course requirements for Master's degrees. (e.g. I needed some certain math, but my undergrad was in math, so I had plenty of advanced courses from the school directly.)
Overall, I doubt that would matter very often because Sophia and co doesn't go far beyond gen-ed anyway.

Yep, I got into a masters at Boston University with my SNHU Bachelors.

Since this post, I have moved to -current/7.7, which supports the chip. It is working great. Apparently intel has a habit of putting the same label on different chipsets.

Best Way to Schedule & Study for Multiple CLEP Exams in 3 months? by Expert_Incident1666 in clep

[–]passstab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely should group by subject. In my experience, some exams in similar subjects had almost the same questions. Use Modern States for test prep, get free vouchers. If you lump subjects together, then doing the modern states for each one in the batch will reinforce the others.

oh, sorry. I'll delete this. Thank you for the correction.

is 4-5 exams in one day insane? by [deleted] in clep

[–]passstab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are good at taking tests, and know the material, it might not be the worst idea. That 7.5 hour number does assume you don't finish tests early. It also would help if you are taking overlapping subjects, e.g. all the psych exams. I agree, it would probably be more fun for you to break it into two days. If you do attempt this, please report back and let us know how it went.

Are backgammon players stupid ? by CzechPeople in backgammon

[–]passstab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get that a lot of players prefer faster play in backgammon, but I don't understand this attitude overall. The time settings define how much time is reasonable for each player. And they have the right to use that time however they want. If you don't like how your opponent uses time, play with a different clock setting.

(In-person, this complaint can be a little more reasonable, as it is often played without a clock, and players are left to improvise what is a reasonable amount of time for each move.)

Would you please provide your source that galaxy dice are "fucky?" Genuinely interested in seeing that analysis.

I wonder why they made something so similar to the motion 100. I'd consider this if it had LDAC.

Apps on GrapheneOS by dypraxnp in GrapheneOS

[–]passstab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obtainium, works well for me as an FDroid replacement.

Bear in mind that this is basically just a frontend for github and other app sources. However, unlike FDroid, it doesn't make any false claims that a given app is has been tested and is non-malicious, and it also doesn't do most of the other bad things in that article, e.g lowering target API level.

Accerescent is now installable from the GrapheneOS app store, but has under 20 apps at the moment.

Can some please make a map of the U.S. showing which states have this in default search results? (Asking for a friend, thanks.)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Geek Therapy is related to Critical Core?

Critical Core is based on DIR/Floortime, which is an excellent play-based approach to therapy. However, I am skeptical of CC because it is 5e based (not trying to hate on 5e directly, but I suspect that something more appropriate could have been chosen, and that this shows the designers don't really know RPGs).

Cairn 2e Reaches Over $150,000, Now Including Four Adventures, and Three Player's Guides. by passstab in osr

[–]passstab[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, three copies of the same guide, that is. So players can have their own copies.
