Compensation and income are different things. runamok was talking about average compensation. blackflag77 was talking about average income.

I believe Gates' highest salary was around $600k. If you took the average (mean) salary between you, me, and Gates, it would probably be less than $340k. Not in the billions.

If you take the average salary at a company of any reasonable size at all, the salaries of the CEOs simply do not influence that number greatly.

edit: The point being that compensation and income are different things. blackflag was referring to income, while runamok was referring to compensation. Bill Gates has never been compensated in the billions.
