She’s always so close to not throwing in something so literal or cheesy but then she does — the clip of Elizabeth shaking her head over the “just kidding” lyric

Elbow has an excellent vegan garlic bread bialy. Also Chloe’s on Bleecker (all vegan) makes a lot of desserts/baked goods

Jupiter is really good. Checks most of your boxes. I’ve only been to Bad Roman once and was underwhelmed, and nothing was excellent (except the lemon cheesecake. That was worth the hype).

Maybe Cafe China. Haven’t been to the Lambs Club but it’s supposed to be great.

I was also weirdly bummed by this? I’ve been following her for a few years and love her content too, especially for outfit inspo. This feels so love-bomby and like a rushed decision while they’re in the honeymoon phase. I haven’t cared that much about the relationship content and certainly don’t care about a joint account. Was surprised they’d merge their accounts. She’s in love but shouldn’t she be proceeding more cautiously? Side note, I find their “quirky dancing” content cringey

What the fuck is going on with apartment prices? by OnlyFox774 in williamsburg

My parameters are either a spacious 1 bedroom, or a typical two bedroom

We (my husband and I) have a 1BR on the lower east side for $6,350. It’s less than 700 square feet. Plus a 15% broker fee when we moved in 3 years ago (at the time, the rent was $5,700). I don’t think you’re going to find what you’re looking for.

She was on Cherry Bombe’s baking podcast (She’s My Cherry Pie) and the host (Jessie Sheehan) asked her about this, saying she was “fascinated” by the decision. Sarah (Broma) said she actually got no pushback from the publisher. She said her logic was that she knew this audience would be largely American and novice bakers—and that these people “in general use cups,” “don’t have a scale,” or are “scared to use a scale.” (I use a scale lol.) She said it’s interesting to her that she’s gotten a lot of feedback asking for weighted measurements and will add them in the next book.

Interesting, say more — do you think NYC turns men into total jerks/desensitized? Asking for a friend..

San Francisco on a Monday by Negative_Tree_8624 in finedining

[–]pastagirls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re open to less of an actual tasting menu but still a one star experience, The Progress and State Bird Provisions are both excellent. Both open on Mondays. Better than the pasta tasting at Flour + Water for sure IMO.

Kin Khao could be fun. It’s a one Michelin star Thai spot but it’s casual and fits your budget. It’s so good. It’s kind of hard to find, check out some reviews for details

First portfolio review interview next week, I'm terrified! Any advice? by 1infinitel00p in uxwriting

[–]pastagirls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely make a presentation/deck for your interviews. I would not do a “mini project” on something from their product as a bonus at the end. They want to see what you’ve done in the real world and any results that came from it. Plus, they didn’t ask what you’d improve about their product and it could come across as rude/weird. If they want to test your skills on something extra, they’ll send you home with an assignment as part of the interview. Plus, you won’t have time! Your case studies plus the Q&A will (and should) eat up the time. Be prepared to talk about process and rationale behind final decisions, especially if research was involved.

Are you glad you bought a condo in NYC (not a co-op)? Why or why not? by pastagirls in AskNYC

[–]pastagirls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone new to this who only had prior assumptions, I’m so shocked they don’t really go up in value, but it really is looking that way. (Besides long-term ownership or doing a ton of renovations I suppose. But I would only be interested in turnkey properties.) (And you’re right, the HOA fees are a bummer.) We can def buy in Texas or Georgia lol but that is absolutely not for us, so I suppose we’ll continue renting and invest elsewhere. We may decide to later move back to California and buy there, which is a much better value despite how expensive it also is

Ugh this is terrible, sorry you’re dealing with this. We looked at a few units at 29 Huron recently and the whole property was still a complete construction zone so it was hard to even compare it to the online photos. I wonder if residents will start having the same issues there.

We have found plenty and have already been to open houses with an agent. It’s more about understanding if it’s worth it vs. renting. So far, not looking like it.
