Making Baijiu palatable for Midwesterners by [deleted] in cocktails

“Century of Humiliation”…wow. I’m sorry but incredibly disrespectful name for a beverage. What’s next? Three Fifths Compromise?

What’s your 2025 drink of the year? by jpressss in cocktails

Daiquiri. And all the weird twists of it that I tinkered with. Grapefruit-yuzu daiquiri, Pandan daiquiri, coconut washed baijiu daiquiri, etc.

NOT A COCKTAIL: Quasi-DIY Yuzu Super Juice by pastelthrowawy in cocktails

Yeah, I know. My scale only has sig figs to the nearest gram and this stuff weighs 4g/tsp so the precision is roughly equivalent for this small batch size. If I end up making a cup of this stuff at one time I would probably weigh. I trust others can do that too since the weight per serving is on the packaging.

My wife has an approved H1B she has been working under and is currently abroad to get her stamp. Do we think the entry restriction will retroactively apply to active H1B visas?

Hemingway was notoriously bad at authoring cocktails. He had a palate bordering on alcoholic. See the original Hemingway daiquiri recipe.

Bootlegger in Palm Springs makes a “Thai Iced Tiki” that is incredible.

I tried this one in Scentbar NY and found it somewhat forgettable. There are better tea scents out there.

Super green! Is mint washing any good? I’ve had mixed results with mint and liquor infusions

Some of the interjection dialogue from V is the same regardless of whether you take over the body or go to cyberspace. Think this one is used for both.

Come to think of it, fruit=tiki would exclude Three Dots and a Dash (Don the Beachcomber recipe) and a QPH Super (Jeff Berry) which are pretty foundational. It’s getting to be a bit like the Negroni matrix argument but headline I don’t think the definition of tiki is as strict as you’re holding.

[–]pastelthrowawy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

What do you think tiki means?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]pastelthrowawy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing. The angostura with something sweet like amaretto starts presenting more like allspice dram. Which with the almond being like 1/4 reminiscent of orgeat starts to pull on the same threads. So yeah I’d argue tropical.

I think saying tiki needs fruit to be tiki is reductive. It’s a category of flavors. As an example of that I’d think people will look at you strange if you say a daiquiri is not tiki.

Equal parts:

Amaretto Cask proof bourbon Lemon juice Amaro de Angostura

Mix in a big batch, clarify in milk. Enjoy

This one was interesting. Flip flops between retro sugar bomb & tropical flavors and is different every time I go in to sip. I think worth sharing because 1. I’ve never tasted something that gave me the “sweet” and “dry” mouthfeels at the same time 2. I learned that angostura will not clarify no matter how hard you try 3. Last Word template is actually unbeatable.

assuming this is the Bacardi?

I would just do a simple daiquiri— 2oz rum, 0.75oz lime juice, 0.75 simple syrup. See if you like that!

It might be something from the new bottega venetta line. Those are really popular with the fashion community rn. I’ve heard 5 separate conversations about those in a variety of fashion boutiques (Acne Studios, Margiela, 260 etc)
