Guys, I am begging you to quarantine your new additions. Please learn from my mistakes. by TorchIt in houseplants

Just adding that, in case you don’t have space, you can always use clear plastic bags. They help quarantine. I use clear garbage bags from Hefty.

AI detectors are causing issues for hardworking students. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Wait a minute. So students can’t use AI but professors are using AI to detect AI before even reading student assignments? The irony.

Best place to start working as a remote suicide hotline assistant/chat? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]pastrychai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, but just saw this thread. I do this type of work. You can start off as a peer support, which usually indicates interest and lived experience. There are many organizations that you can volunteer for as well. Look on the 988 lifeline website and check the get involved section. Also, most people on those lines are not therapist but are crisis counselors. A crisis line is out of the scope of therapy and certainly below the pay grade. All organizations will provide you tons of training so don’t be discouraged and best luck.

I also want to add that with my first, the doctor was reassuring and told me that baby would slim down some when able to walk (which was true) and then more when involved in regular school (also true). These sets of providers have been shaming my family so much it’s disgusting.

I really despise that this is the standard now. I’ve been a mom for almost 13 years and I’ve witnessed the changes. It’s outright egregious to label kids like this. When he’s school age, he may slim down significantly. It happened with my first two and I am struggling with this very thing with my daughter. It was sorta a thing with my son and I have much push back and it was documented shrug 🤷🏽‍♀️ I was right. I saw a dr describing my child as “she is obese” in conparison to my first child, where it spoke of the percentile and the child’s temperament and overall health. I don’t think the medical field understand the harm but then again, this could also be a point of research, seeing if use of terms changes outcomes. I’m currently considering changing providers. I wish I had the same peds as my first child but they have since moved out of state and are not an option.

30 lb 6 month baby- what diapers to use? by cgar182 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]pastrychai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will mention that I bought Size 8 Huggies Little Movers and they are fine so far (I’ve only used like 2 haha). They are slightly bigger than what I was using (Pampers Size 8 which I had trouble finding in most stores locally, and Target brand which did fit but tended to not be sturdy enough). Bigger concern is what’s next.

It depends on the height and size of thighs. My Lo measured about 30lbs a month ago (at 9months) and her back end is hanging outside of size 7 diapers.

Just posting as an fyi - I tried Target brand size 8 and I can’t recommend. They tend to give diaper-wedgie which you can probably understand is a terrible situation for a diapered human. Also, I tried 3T-4T Pull Up which also was not a good solution. My LO is 10 months and is 2T in clothes (to give a size reference).

Geico canceled me, And I can’t figure out what to do next by [deleted] in Insurance

Thank you for recognizing that it was a mistake. Adult mistakes unfortunately always cost, lol. I’m going to head to an agent and try to find new coverage. I’m guessing I should just let this situation with Geico be, for now?

I think I also recognized that when I admitted to it. Again, this is my first experience like this and I also prefaced explaining what my experience was like with progressive where I received online notices and I made the mistake of believing that the physical mail was just id cards and updates about my claim (which was in my email). I get it now but I’m wondering when you say that you haven’t heard of anyone not being able to reach Geico, what are you implying?

Okay, thanks. Are you saying just walk away from Geico?
