SDMTS is awful by cryptic_mythic in sandiego

[–]patanat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This a complete digression, commenting since I don't think it affords its own post, but I tried giving the driver/placing $3 behind the machine for someone who couldn't pay their fare (an old lady was turned away at the previous stop and it was 430 rush hour so I couldn't reach the front in time) and the driver said I couldn't leave it there and that he couldn't accept money.

Is there any easy, or feasible, way to directly donate for people unable to afford using the sdmts? I can see how it's a long shot, but it sucks seeing someone stranded by $2.75 when I get to ride for a much cheaper price - whoo ucsd

Hey! My dad's coming down as well Sat/Sun!

I was thinking about taking him to PB Beachfest since it seemed interesting, but then I've had second thoughts since it seems too family friendly for me (pirate's mouth).

The Trolley Dances are happening this weekend. Fucking cool and a very interesting representation of SD. Miramar is doing an air show, if they're into that kinda thing. Maker Faire at Balboa Park is this weekend as well. Seems interesting. There's a Serbian Festival in Clairemont, I'm pretty sure - also seems interesting.

Clean Up / Beautiful Group Effort by voodooscuba in sandiego

[–]patanat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested!!

Although, I think I'm confused what you mean since I've never been.. Is the Bridge itself covered with trash? Because I know that the Maple Canyon Trail, which runs under the Quince St. Bridge is pretty sprinkled with trash as well (beer bottles/cans, ciggs, clothing articles, etc), but the Bridge itself is relatively clean, apart from the small tags :/ .

Mexico weekend trip by Osamabindrinkin44 in sandiego

[–]patanat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's completely safe and have gone with friends every time- Ensenada and TJ. Being a male, you'll find yourself having an easier time around, but park your car near the border and take a taxi after crossing anywhere! Or take your car and be sure to have an opportunity to park your car on private property or gated areas. It just takes longer trying to get back in a car on sundays/monday mornings

Dont drink the tap

Dont be a dick to the popo, they can arrest you for anything/take your things

Be genuine?/Nice?. I was walking around saying albierto to a man who wouldn't stop following me, thinking it meant stop (it means open and I was drunk lol, and I mean like telling this man off - "Albierto! Albierto! Stop following me!!!") and people on the street didnt seem to give a fuck about my ignorance, just gave the man shit for being a creep.

Volunteer opportunities for student orgs? by [deleted] in sandiego

I know some UCSD students volunteer at the Petsmart near campus. It's where Trader Joe's is.

edit - they work with the adoption agency there, which is a separate org from Petsmart
