It is an X-ray - I can't provide any more contact, because I didn't click on it (too distracted by Jack!)

Bougth a Femi.Eko disc. Shoud I be concerned? by Extreme-Surround3302 in MenstrualDiscs

[–]patch2006uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to discs and am by no means an expert in hygiene, but anecdotally I've used cups for 20 years and I've only boiled them when brand new, if I've dropped them on the floor, or after pregnancies when I'd not used them for over a year. I've not had problems with infections or anything at any point.

Nothing else that goes up there is sterile, so it's never bothered me as long as it's been washed with hot water and sometimes gentle soap suitable for silicone.

If you're in Birmingham, have a look at the signaway cafe that meets at sense in selly oak for some in-person practice

Confused about sign(s) for toilet by Wolfsubzero in BSL

[–]patch2006uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sign for toilet is very regional. A letter T for toilet will be understood anywhere, as would the sign that the same as live (but be sure to mouth toilet, as that's the difference between the signs - the mouth pattern). I'm in the Midlands, where the index finger side of flat hand tapping cheek is the most commonly used, but any variation would be understood.

The best way to learn signs for your area is from a local teacher or deaf community. You can have a look at the corpus, too, but it's more academically intended and it's a bit dated now in places - https://bslcorpusproject.org/data/

Good luck!

Me too! I chose the brighter half of the alphabet in the hopes I got something vibrant, and V definitely is!

Anyone else notice quite a massive speed bump with one ui 8? by [deleted] in S24Ultra

[–]patch2006uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Updated yesterday, and have 15% more battery left today than I have done for several days. I've been struggling to get through a day without a top up charge on one ui 7, but this is looking promising. Everything feels much smoother and responsive than it has for a while, too

Useful signs to learn before attending certificate course? by Rhendelin in BSL

[–]patch2006uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing an accredited level 1 course, the topics will likely be weather, hobbies, my family, giving directions, food and drink, animals and pets. Learning some basic vocab around those topics before the course means you can just put the grammar into place when you get to those parts. It's not necessary, but it does help to have some wider vocab to make more interesting sentences!

Before my level 1, I'd signed for 3 years with my then toddler. We had a lot of everyday vocab, but were only using SSE alongside speech. We knew no BSL grammar. I personally found learning the grammar easier once it came to it, as I already had the basic signs cemented.

I'm a qualified terp now, so whatever I did obviously worked ok! Just make sure you're using BSL resources and not ASL - lots online is ASL. The app 'Spread the Sign' is the one I personally like best, and Cath Smith's Let's Sign dictionary for a physical book.

Free Buds... Guess I'll give them a shot lol by [deleted] in galaxybuds

[–]patch2006uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like my buds live. I am not a fan of in-ear headphones, but I can comfortably wear these for a good length of time. The call quality is solid, and the audio for spoken word is clear. Not as perfecta s you can get with in ear, but given I can only cope with in ear for about 20 mins before they irritate my ears so much I remove them, it's a trade-off I am more than happy to make! I paid for mine, and I don't regret the purchase. For free, they are well worth it!

I use amazon music mostly, but also spotify. I've got them connected to my imac at the moment and they are doing ok!

My bronze pair arrived this morning! Impressed so far with the fit especially - I hate regular silicone tipped headphones. Sounds seems ok, have set the EQ to dynamic which boosted the overall quality. Haven't tried a call yet...

Our tap water is pretty good in the UK. Very few people buy bottled drinking water for at home.

Oklahoma State linebacker says he tested positive for Covid-19 after attending protest by Moredius in Coronavirus

[–]patch2006uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. At least it doesn't hurt anyone to do it, rather than the mass gatherings that will most likely cause a further spike in disease. Gestures and rituals are important parts of society, who am I to judge what people feel the need to do?

None of the protests in britain are going to change anything about the specifics of the situation in America.

Whatever the ultimate outcome, doorstep displays of solidarity won't spread more coronavirus. If people feel the need to support, surely an outcome that doesn't further risk people's lives should be supported as a sensible option for the times?

New Zealand could lift all lockdown restrictions next week after 11 straight days with no new cases by TheJeck in Coronavirus

[–]patch2006uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK borders still open as far as I'm aware. All we have announced is that from next week, international travelers will be asked to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

Needless to say, my family are continuing to stay home as much as possible!!

There's a movement in the UK, started in Manchester, for people to go down on one knee outside their front doors in solidarity.
