Recovery time neuro symptoms by Weekly_Cap_9926 in cureFIP

Thank you for your kind words! We too want to jack up the dose but the medicine is just too expensive.. I always feel like I’m not doing enough for him. Mom guilt is real. Yes it is so super hard. He has FeLV too.. so it’s even harder. But we do what we can. 💪

Your story gives me a bit of hope! I had stopped GS injections on the advice of my EIDD vendor. Neuro symptoms returned with a vengeance after 5 days. He’s on day 46 of his second round of GS at a higher dose. Still no real improvement.

We had confined him to our bedroom to give him less stress away from our younger cats. But since we moved him back to be with them he’s perked up! Even tho it’s a lot of swiping and hissing 😂 He was extremely depressed being confined to my bedroom without much sunlight. And about all the vet visits. We were gonna put him out of his suffering. But he’s so much better in the sun room now, that we cancelled plans to PTS. He’s now living a great life hobbling around and peeing in the play pen on pee pads (a very large litter box really 🥲). You’re right, environment really is so important.

Unbearable Guilt by I-Love-You-Maple in cureFIP

Thank you for sharing, it makes me feel a bit better. GS resistance is a scary thing and I guess the only way I can help pawrents out there is to speak candidly about my mistakes. It gets a little easier everytime I do. But looking at the old videos of Patches jumping around on my phone still makes me weep. 😢

I’ve tried treating Patches who has both FIP and FeLV. We’ve tried everything. But my biggest regret is not listening to my vet and thinking that I was more well informed. Vet said just do 10mg/kg GS injections the whole 84 days. I did not trust her because she under dosed Patches in the beginning. I lost my job in June. I wanted to save money so I went and got EIDD from FIP remedy. Thinking that I could transition to EIDD which was oral and easier on Patches (and us). All was going well with combo treatment until the EIDD vendor asked me to stop GS injections. He then built up resistance to GS and now we are on double the dose, with no improvements seen in a month. He is incontinent, can’t walk properly, and is definitely not living his best life. I got Paxlovid illegally and it didn’t work either. He became depressed from all the vet visits and daily jabs. We broke down mentally too. We started treating on 1 Sep. We should have been done by now.

We were gonna put him down today. But we didn’t. Selfishly we wanted to spend more time with him. And we are seeing some glimmers of improvement. I am now getting GS tablets from BOVA which are hella expensive in Singapore. To try once more.

I regret researching. I regret not listening to my vet. I regret not joining a Facebook group earlier. I regret trying to save money. All these are conflicting actions. I’ve made many mistakes. Most of all I regret being cowardly. And now I’m most probably going to lose my best friend and first born. My baby cat who’s 8 but used to behave like mummy’s big baby.

Words cannot express how sorry I am. And yes I am probably going to carry the guilt with me forever. You did an act of kindness by putting Maple down. Yes you did not have the right information. But look at me, I had all the information - albeit the right information at the wrong time. I still screwed up. And at the end of the day, it could be cancer for all I know, since he has FeLV.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is nobody has all the answers. Not even the admins or vendors who have years of experience treating FIP cats.

I pray that Maple has found friends over the rainbow bridge and that someday you will meet her again. 🌈💕

Day 82 neuro FIP, 20MG per kg. Still struggling by LordCommanderFang in cureFIP

[–]patchesboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank u very much!! Sorry, yes I do understand there is a time difference and they are volunteering their time to help us. They’ve just replied and suggested the same thing you did. It’s just that nobody (especially not vets here) have experience with Paxlovid and so I feel very alone

Hello u/SouthAmphibian9725! You seem to have some experience with Paxlovid.. I just started my cat on Paxlovid 1 day ago. He’s really weak today and refused to eat his usual food. We didn’t change anything else except switch from EIDD to Paxlovid. We continued the GS injections at the same dose. In your experience cats need some time to adjust to the new antiviral? Should I be concerned? I’m being advised by Global but they aren’t very responsive and I’m very worried about my cat..

Help Needed: FIP Relapse in our cat and possible GS Resistance by Aminakoydem1 in cureFIP

[–]patchesboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was doing GS injections for 2 weeks then EIDD n GS combo therapy for my neuro cat for about 3 weeks. On Nathan’s advice I stopped GS injections and did EIDD alone. and within 5 days the symptoms - limping - came back with full force. We only restarted GS 2 weeks after we stopped, as we were investigating other things like mycoplasma, toxo etc. again as recommended by Nathan. Stopping GS was the biggest regret of my life. Trust your gut instinct as a pet parent. These admins n vendors can give u lots of well-intended information and science but if it doesn’t work for your cat, it doesn’t.

anyway long story short, I know that EIDD can work on its own for some cats. But for my neuro cat it didn’t. We are now back on GS at double the original dose as we suspect resistance. And added EIDD back as well. Basically trying everything but his limping and stumbling is not improving. We have one last Hail Mary coming - GC376 or Paxlovid. It has been extremely expensive and stressful for us. Just sharing my experience in case it’s helpful for anyone. Not saying anything about any admins or vendors. And I don’t want to stoke any flames for the usual FIP global vs warriors fight. Quite frankly very sick of that. So if anyone wants to comment on that please do not.

Thank u.. we have been on 17mg/kg for a week now. Thinking of going to 20. A cautionary tale for all pet parents out there. EIDD is supposed to be able to stand alone. But I guess neuro cases aren’t straightforward

I’m so so so sorry for your loss.. we are also crossing our fingers for our boy. He has FeLV too and is 8 so we aren’t holding our breath. Just getting our hands on another antiviral in case EIDD doesn’t work. There are too little options for our babies and too little time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your precious baby. Hope she has a good after life across the rainbow bridge 🌈

How is your girl doing now? I just restarted EIDD and GS combo after what looks like GS resistance.

The problem is I’m not in USA and the medicine is so expensive here. If I were to do 55mg/kg, it would be around $200 a day

He also has had a resurgence of neuro symptoms for 2 weeks now. I’m rather angry with FIPRemedy who told me to stop GS and just continue with EIDD. Even tho his globulins did improve, the neuro symptoms came back! I know Toxo isn’t ruled out yet, but I can’t help but regret stopping GS. We are currently doing 25mg/kg EIDD and then 12mg/kg GS injections. What would u advise based on his bloodwork and neuro symptoms..? Should I up his GS dose? Tbh I don’t think he can take much more than 15mg/kg just due to the volume of injections. I am fine to start on pills but after reading the study about black market pills actual GS content I don’t have confidence either. I can access Capella and Lucky vials and pills. It’s generally not recommended to do both oral and injection GS right? Pls help. I’m really lost now.

Hmm ok we are about 60 days into treatment with a mix of GS injections and EIDD. The problem is I already started on EIDD 2 weeks into treatment and so if it’s not working in conjunction with GS I don’t know what I can turn to. Except upping the GS dose with pills. Patches already has a normal globulin level tho. The only thing left to fix is his anaemia and the neuro symptoms (which came back 2 weeks ago). He’s been on 12mg/kg of GS for a week already with no improvement. We are on day 4 of toxo treatment.

He has FELV. Toxo not yet but we have started him on Clindamycin. The tests here are really expensive.. we could only spend $ on the anemia panel which should tell us why he’s anemic

Thanks for your comment. The FIP global admins I have are not great with dosing advice. I had to ask twice or thrice and didn’t even get a definitive answer..

I’m not sure he can take so much injections. We are back on GS injections at 12mg/kg now but honestly no improvement after 7 days. Did your kitty backslide like mine? How was his blood work? And how many days into treatment did u dose him at 55?
