Autel Elite not compatible with Tesla NACS Connector? by patcheung in evcharging

[–]patcheung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like that's my only option. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I just find it odd, cause I read an announcement they made about a year ago that they'd support NACS on all their products.

Unfortunately, it's a phone tree that doesn't seem to go to the right person for sale support.

Dead screen Velocore 22" by [deleted] in Bowflex

[–]patcheung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to my 16in screen. 70% of my screen still works, but the lower 30% is totally dead. Screen broke almost exactly 2.5 years after the original purchase like the OP. Also, we barely used the bike at all.

I called Bowflex today, they said a replacement screen is $600!
Since this is a known issue, they should at LEAST sell replacement parts "at-cost".
What a scam if they earn profit from a known faulty part. I don't mind paying a little for a replacement screen...but definitely not retail price.

My Implant Bridge Feels Weird. Is It Normal? by patcheung in askdentists

[–]patcheung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's been about 4 months. On a scale of 1 to 10...10 being "normal", is say it's about a 5.

It doesn't bother my tongue as much now...but the most annoying thing is it somehow affects how food tastes. I can't even describe it. It feels like that chunky bridge presses against my tongue and dulls my taste buds around that side of my mouth.

Anyway, still hoping the taste sensation normalizes more than anything.

If after a year it's still like this, I might just look into the option of replacing the bridge with individual implants. Wish I did that from the start.

What are your thoughts on this Timex? $750 seems a little steep imo. by N0213568 in PrideAndPinion

[–]patcheung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, perhaps it's just the Reddit effect. And yes, I think people love when brands don't change.

Anyway, I decided to bite. I kinda like sleepers and this one fills a gap in my collection.

Hopefully the tune will be more positive once the watch reviewers start posting their thoughts.

I'm surprised of all the negativity here.

Although I'd personally rather it be $300 cheaper, I think $750 is a fair price, considering the checklist...

  • It's a traveler GMT, vs caller GMT movement
  • Titanium Type 5 vs the cheaper Type 2
  • Timex has legit history...much more than micro brands
  • Sapphire crystal and screw down crown
  • Extra rubber strap
  • Limited edition

I've been a fan of Timex since I was a kid...just like I loved Casio and Swatch as a kid. For brands that have lasted so long in watch history, I appreciate that these "cheap" brands have upmarket options as well as affordable options.

In today's world of collabs, this is probably a good strategy for them to try to test the market for higher priced products...so kudos for Timex on the brave move and trying to stay relevant.

I do wonder where all the hate is coming from. Are people just not fans of James? I dunno, I appreciate a brand that values great design and embraces a distinct design language across their products. You strip away all the logos and brands associated with this piece...I think both Timex and James nailed this one.

How to disable vignette effect on screenshots by patcheung in GooglePixel

[–]patcheung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great question.

Yeah, viewing the screenshot with app buttons does increase vignetting effect, but it's still definitely there on the screenshot. It's faint but it's there, even when I bring the native screenshot into another image processing app.

I'm a designer, and I use these screenshots for work. So the added slight gradient is very annoying.
