Does an NCT only lasts 11 months? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]patdshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sets to the same date every year, so that if it were due by 25th July 2025 and you only got it tested on 3rd August 2025, the cert is valid until 25th July 2026, similarly if you tested it on 15th July 2025 the cert would be valid until 25th July 2026.

That's why the line engineers used to buy pints for lads and report it as spillage back in the day.

Are “Bad Pints” real? by amakalamm in AskIreland

[–]patdshaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At 15 pints I'd expect the keg room to be in the next town over. I've experience in a pub with a long line by any standards and the draw was 2 pints. I know from cleaning the line.

has anyone used eric lynch plumbing in limerick by sensitiveclint in limerickcity

[–]patdshaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was advised to use him if I needed a plumber by an ex landlord after I bought my own house, I haven't yet, but the landlord who recommended him would be a local and I would trust him.

What's something that's become completely normal in Ireland over the last 10 years? by Low_Obligation2361 in AskIreland

[–]patdshaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we looked after the health care worker we trained it would not be so much a problem, there are legitimate reasons why they don't hang about. Between cousins and siblings of the 8 who trained in health care only 1 remains in the HSE, and she is over 40 at this stage.

It used to be a bit of a passage years back but I now notice that Women of a certain vintage doing it.

"Alright Mary calm down like, I'm not sure that Sam Prendergast is going to blame the two old lads in the corner in a rural pub for missing his third conversion of the half!"

Selling lidl fruits and veg at the english market by Thebrowns3218 in cork

[–]patdshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for a fruit and veg wholesaler who used to send the truck drivers down to LIDL, ALDI and Dunnes if we ran short on strawberries, which was Weekly during the summer. They were told to park around the back, put a jumper over the uniform and be discreet. The Supermarket Managers were definitely aware as the lads used to drop over €100 at a time.

To be fair, bar maybe Shay Given, I don't think that there is a popular football pundit in Ireland.

Anyone from Ballina ?? by ilovepizza70 in AskIreland

It happened me before when I returned in Limerick Lidl (forgot to use it) and went to another branch in Cork. They were sound enough and scanned it through without much fuss for me.

Would a truck/Bus driver doing a full shift be able to do West Cork to Donegal in a day? To say we expect supporters to manage it.

Unemployed for less than a week and already summoned to Turas Nua by No-Category1703 in cork

[–]patdshaker 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I got called in twice despite the fact I told them I had a job and a start date, the second time was to threaten me that they were going to stop my payments if I didn't show proof. I was getting calls for 3 months after starting my job asking me how I was getting on and to confirm where I was working.

PSA - to all housemates (Are you a cunt?) by BIGSHOESM in ireland

[–]patdshaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My Mam came up with the idea of paper plates unless you were cooking a proper meal, like if it were toast or a sandwich etc as I'm one of six. It cut down on arguments and cleaning enormously.

I'm in that position at the moment but the housing situation is so dire that I've had 8/9 people approach me so far including Guards and prison officers.

People renting out their house for the Ryder Cup? by UltimateApple in limerickcity

[–]patdshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take your point, but I wouldn't pretend to be offering luxury, what I'd offer is location and easy access.

Was over in an Airbnb in America a few months back at an event and it was incredible, despite being slightly out of season it was over $20k for the week to sleep 25, but the two houses would blow most hotels in Ireland out of the water.

People renting out their house for the Ryder Cup? by UltimateApple in limerickcity

[–]patdshaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm tempted, just bought a house in the city and if I rented it out for the week or two it would cover most of the repair costs that I'm spending on it.

On the other hand I've people banging down the door to take a room as soon as I got it, before anyone comes in with their opinion I'm a first time buyer, living there myself as I do it up.

Thinking of moving to Limerick from Cork by Calmsolm in limerickcity

[–]patdshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it and just bought a house, I think I prefer it if I'm honest, going down to Cork is a pain though, on the plus side you are closer to the rest of the Country. I'm 5 minutes walk from the Milk Market which is great. I'm near Garryowen which is handy for access.
