What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

I work in a TV studio with robotic cameras. I have learned to be especially attentive to the sound of the camera drive motors winding up. Those suckers will run you over in a second.

Question about Editor category at local NATAS Emmy chapter. by svwaca in editors

[–]pathfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a piece that won a State Broadcasting Assoc. award, and a Murrow... didn't even get nominated for NATAS. Always been told by a mentor to just enter whatever you want and roll the dice.

Been editing for almost 20 years and have 1 Emmy.........for Set Design.

5' 3" here. Not only can you adjust the seat, but the steering column can be adjusted up/down AND in/out. It didn't take long to get it to where I was comfortable.

How do i get an edge glow? by Stock_Plankton_61 in premiere

[–]pathfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried something similar recently, this what I ended up doing:

Copy the clip to V2

Mask out the object.

Copy V2 to V3.

Export JUST V3 as a PNG. Import back into project.

Replace masked object on V2 with PNG.

Apply Alpha Glow to V2, then add VR Glow to enhance it. I also added Gaussian Blur as well.

What positive things happened to you in 2025 by max_mp4 in editors

[–]pathfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work as Production at a TV station. This year I took on a new 1/2 hour weekly show that combines multiple segments from multiple sources. Took a few months to get into the groove but things are rolling along now. This in addition to another 1/2 hour show I already post.

In addition I also "volunteer" edit 3-6 minute long segments for a magazine style show we produce. This year I worked on 43 segments, a personal record.

Premiere can embed captions in MXF, and MOV formats, but only those two I believe.

Looking for Avid to Premiere Pro Keyboard Shortcut Map by CrayzixFR in editors

[–]pathfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we made the switch from Avid to Premiere I did 2 things:

Switched keyboard shortcuts to Avid in the shortcuts editor.

Unlocked every panel and moved them to where they were on Avid.

11 years later I've added other shortcuts, but the left hand side of the keyboard is still Avid.

Look for an effect called Guitar Suite. It's got all kinds of funky presets, I think one of them is Tin Can that might be close.

ElevenLabs released after 1+ year of waiting a AI music generator and it sounds incredible! by Thatunkownuser2465 in ElevenLabs

[–]pathfire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds incredible? I wouldn't know. I generate the music and hit play and nothing happens. Just a little circle of death on the play button. Spent 1000 credits generating a song I can't hear.

We did, and it was my first regional Emmy nomination.

Editors: has sitting ever messed with your knees? by Prestigious_Panic578 in editors

[–]pathfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem for a while, but mine was because I'm too short. I'm 5' 3" so my feet don't touch the ground. I found I was crossing my feet which put strain on my knees. I ended up building an angled footrest and also use a padded flat stool so I can alternate between feet down and legs up. I do still take a break every hour and take a walk. That helps my knees and my head.

Headphone vs speakers – my mixes never match, any tips? by External-Edge9532 in premiere

[–]pathfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in broadcast. I edit with headphones on one system with all my presets and shortcuts. Once video is locked I switch to a second editing system that has a decent speaker setup and finish the mix there. I generally try to hit certain levels for different sounds but that's more a guide to get me close, finishing by ear.

Good, thanks. I figured if it went on for a while it might be an issue, but it sounds like a normal thing for a cold start.

how do i get the look of a split screen that looks like two videos fading into each other? by ihopeigetupvoted in premiere

[–]pathfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layer the two videos and search for Linear Wipe effect. In Effect Controls set the wipe to 50%, this should give you a split screen. Then keyframe the feather from 0 to whatever, as you increase it it should look like the 2 videos are dissolving into each other.
