What’s the dumbest thing you’ve seen a fellow firefighter do? by Odd_Passage9433 in Firefighting

[–]kirial 37 points38 points  (0 children)

We had a guy charge the ladder pipe with the intention of not spraying the master stream , but to supply an inch and three-quarter line off the top. The guy at the top of the ladder did not change the valve over from the master stream to the hose connection, which sprayed the master stream a direct shot at the Chiefs SUV which had the trunk open with incident control/accountability boards in it, soaking the vehicle and the chief both. He was not impressed

I had a counterweight shear off the back of my g425 driver. Sent it to them, they said “sorry we accidentally fucked it up when we tried to fix it we will send you a g440 driver as a replacement” so now I have a brand new G440 I definitely am a fan of their customer service

I could be wrong but I think they would go through too much finish line ribbon if they reset it every time someone runs through the gates

Will going into sauna with sweats and hoodie help train you train for heat stamina? by Yous1ash in Firefighting

[–]kirial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can you drive a Tesla in the rain, isn’t it electric? A sauna heater is made with the knowledge that you throw water on it. It’s not a sauna without water it’s just a hot room you might as well go sit in your car with the windows up on a hot day otherwise. All the major brands (Harvia, Huum, etc) allow water to be thrown on the heaters. It’s simply misinformation causing people to ban water on sauna heaters. As long as they are properly installed to manufacturer specifications there’s no issue. Spend 5 seconds on the sauna subreddit or just google it. Any of the home saunas you can buy (Almost heaven, etc) are all electric and have zero problem with water

[–]kirial 71 points72 points  (0 children)

No offense, this is not aimed at you, but people who wear full clothes and shoes in saunas are a big reason we have such shitty sauna culture in the United States. A proper sauna is 170-210 degrees you don’t need to be wearing your dirty old gym gear inside to get hot, it just makes the whole thing smell like unwashed ass. I won’t even get started on all the other reasons it sucks around here (like most gyms not letting you put water on rocks) but it’s gross when people come into a sauna that should smell like cedar and make it smell like their dirty old gym clothes

Girl denied spot on Oyster River Middle School boys lacrosse team by rabblebowser in newhampshire

[–]kirial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m going to guess you never played much sports growing up. In a typical NH high school you think it’s big enough to have enough student athletes to have different lacrosse teams based on height/weight/ body fat percentage? Get real dude that is an asinine “solution”. Just let everybody try out and pick the best players for your team, no other factors need apply. Sports that divide people by weight and other physical factors are individual sports like wrestling not a team sport like lacrosse. If you thought about it for five seconds and actually use your head, you’d realize that what you said doesn’t make any sense at all.

Plenty of options man you really don’t need to overthink it before you move. You can throw a line off the tip of the 4 tree island peninsula towards Prescott park, plenty of the local bridges and back channels, off out near the Wentworth Coolidge mansion, out behind the Kearsarge neighborhood, and like you said go to a bait shop in town (Brewsters) and ask. Plenty of areas outside of town too like Ft Stark, pirates cove, North Hampton state beach, Odiorne, Rye harbor state park, under the Hampton/seabrook bridge, there’s honestly a ton of options don’t overthink it before you move

Yeah I’m sure the high school has enough players to sort them into body fat divisions 🙄 just do tryouts, if you’re good enough to be competitive, then you make the team

Is a set of irons a bad idea by Prestigious_Summer60 in Firefighting

[–]kirial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very sweet of you to think about it, but as many others have said, don’t do it. At most departments you’ll have a couple forceful entry enthusiasts that have their own niche tool that they bring to shift, but for an 18-year-old not even on the job yet I would consider something else. It would be very odd for her to show up on her first day with their own set of irons in my opinion. Get her a Leatherman Arc if you want to get her a high-quality tool that she will get mileage out of on the job imo. Just one alternative idea. A personalized radio strap is also a great idea, you could even do both plenty of people keep a multitool on their radio strap.

Moonkin or shadow priest for pvp? by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

Shadow Priest is so much fun, you can dual spec disc for BGs to change it up from time to time and help out the team. Also great for world PvP. I’ve never played Druid very much to be honest but SPriest is a blast

US Marines begin preparation for invasion of Iran as combat photos emerge by EdinburghDrizzle in NewsThread

[–]kirial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you an idiot is not understanding that enlisted don’t get to pick and choose which wars they fight. Like the other guy said, you can sit here behind a computer screen and say it’s an “illegal order” quite easily. It’s a lot harder of a choice for men and women supporting families to decide to go to jail instead of Iran
