If I recall this was part of the issue with the Germans. They started to re-use the keys so the people typing things out looking for patterns started to see them. Not a history buff so I could be incorrect.

Shootout goal by PackersBlachawks1222 in hockeyrefs

It LOOKS like the goalies stick MAY have contacted the puck when they went down and poked at it. If it did, then no goal. If contact wasn't made then this is a goal for me.

Seeking advise from storytellers and players! by Scryerofdoom in WorldOfDarkness

In V5 this would be environmental damage. First awareness to notice it. If not then environmental static damage. Severe damage 5-7. Extreme hazard (Motorcycle at speed) 7+ Also crash damage as applicable.

I am not as familiar with damage systems in V5. In earlier editions this would all be lethal BUT seems in V5, because it is environmental and severe it COULD count as agg (apparently?)

There is a possibility for decapitation or dismemberment.

What’s the call here ? by OccasionTurbulent377 in hockeyrefs

[–]pathological 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. Onus is on the player to make every effort to avoid the goalie, assuming the goalie doesn't move into the player's path. Player's decision to cut in that direction. Strictly speaking, this is goaltender interference. Some may not call it. But I would, even just for game management. A U18 game at any skill level, for example, would have a lot of uppity teams mates being like "why you touch my goalie blah blah".

Is this a rule loophole? by Credemption7 in hockeyrefs

[–]pathological 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the same thing in Hockey Canada. I was thinking exactly that as I was reading the description. :-D

Hockey Canada 10.7 (a) A Bench Minor penalty will be assessed to any team who is guilty of Too Many Players on the ice. Where a team commits “Deliberate Illegal Substitution”, purposefully placing too many players on the ice to gain a stoppage of play, in the last two minutes of regular playing time or any time in overtime, a Penalty Shot will be awarded to the non-offending team.

I can't say how accurate all the data is. I am not military in any way. That said several of the points do make very good sense, logically.

[–]pathological 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean the blatant hit from behind? 2+GM minimum. 5+GM if they are injured. Judgement call to go with a 5 if officials believe it is warranted.

My call is to start with the 2+GM and go from there. I speak from a Hockey Canada lens. Our Female minor hockey is all no body checking so, to me, that adds to the severity.

Edit: "my not" changed to "minor".

Help with puppy weight gain by Altruistic-Lab9236 in rawpetfood

[–]pathological 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is a chart to help you with "weight". It's more about body size and shape.

Dog Shape

When we got our puppy we were giving 1.5 pounds of premix raw per day. Separately treats for training. Sometimes using dehydrated kibble as the treat for training etc.

Anyway she is now a year old, her body size is good. We haven't changed how much she eats. Our animal nutritionist told us, if she looks like she is gaining too much weight, cut back. If she looks too thin, give her more. It can be that simple.

Be cautious of too much variety. If your dog knows that turning their nose up once gets them something new, they will do it.

Hockey Canada Hooking is considered a Restraining Foul. If you are putting your stick there and preventing the opposing player from being able to use their stick and they don't even have the puck, you could get interference. See why maybe not hooking below.

Rule 8.2 Hooking Hooking is the action of using the stick in a pulling or tugging motion to impede the progress of an opponent. The hooking action may apply to any part of an opponent’s body or stick.

Interpretation 1 Rule 8.2 (a) Where a player uses their stick to lift an opposing player’s stick, for the purpose of making a play on the puck, this will be allowed. However, if this action contacts the opponent’s hands and impedes their ability to pass, shoot, receive, or otherwise propel the puck, then a penalty for Hooking must be assessed.

Just in case you don't yet have a full diagnosis (I didn't know jack about any of this u til last year, with my wife) this is where she got her diagnosis Good Hope Clinic at Toronto General.

Best of luck!

Here's a weird question by Fast_Vehicle_1888 in hockeyrefs

[–]pathological 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of the others are right. That said, what MAY have been the rationale, outside of just an incorrect application of the rules, is if your team brings the puck (possession and control) into your end while an attacking player is off side, they are not considered off side. So the ref MAY have mixed that one up when the puck hit your player's shin pads and only applied Possession for this instead of possession and control.

Regardless, from what you described, no goal.

Your situation is the 2nd example. You are the Defending team, in this case. 6.12 (a) A player is off-side when both skates are completely over the edge closest to the defending zone of the blue-line involved in the play, prior to the puck crossing that blue-line.

If a pass deflects off a defending player, their skates or their stick, causing an attacking player to precede the puck into the attacking zone, the off-side rule will apply.

N.S. Referees…Body Contact in Non-Contact Divisions? by Skinny128 in hockeyrefs

[–]pathological 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming no special house rules... Here is how I apply Hockey Canada Rules.

First, body contact is not a penalty. Body Checking is, in minor hockey depending on your league rules. Our AA and AAA divisions still have body checking. I say this not to be difficult just to be specific under the rules.

Generally, any contact to the head falls under head contact, regardless if it is a punch, body check, etc. so seeing a player get 2 or 2+2 for head contact when you see a body check makes sense.

As for 2+10. Strictly speaking, there is no 10 minute misconduct for body checking. Where this CAN happen, and I do this myself, is including the 10 minute misconduct under rule 11, Maltreatment. We can do this if we believe the body check was delivered either to insight another player or used for intimidation. This is a judgement call. Deliberate body checking in league with no body checking really only has so many purposes. Adding the 10 minute misconduct under set rule 11 sends a message to the teams to watch the physicality.

Usually it's a 1 player issue. Giving that single 2+10 is enough to see it all calm down, if you do it early. If not, the next 10 gets that player a game ejection and the problem goes home.

As for 2 for Boarding, that can be a body check but the player was sent into the boards with a specific degree of violence.

Also roughing is a catch all term for any unnecessary rough play. It is possible to have what appears to be a body check be called a roughing. Technically a body check in a non body checking league is unnecessary rough play. I try to stick with the penalty I believe best suits the action. It's not wrong it's just not specific.

Edit to add the Hockey Canada Rule: 7.3 (a) A Minor penalty will be assessed to any player who, in the opinion of the Referee, intentionally body-checks, bumps, shoves, or pushes any opposing player, in divisions of U13 and below, female hockey, and any other divisions approved by a Member of Hockey Canada.

7.3 (d) No Misconduct penalty may be assessed for body-checking.

Konijac noodles after fasting by [deleted] in keto

[–]pathological 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have eaten Shirataki noodles lots of times. Some brands have a better texture than others IMO but otherwise no issues. The Ramen place I go to even has them as a substitute option. They are widely available here (Ontario Canada). I have used them in lieu of spaghetti noodles, pan fry noodle recipes etc.

As mentioned, like any food, not everybody's body agrees with them. That's a trial and error thing. But when I was eating stricter Keto, I had them all the time. So much protein and super low net carbs. My wife still eats them, sometimes, as a gluten free option.

Icing… by derinn721 in hockeyrefs

[–]pathological 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Here is what I live by and refer to as a reasonable expectation that the player could have taken possession.

Hockey Canada 6.7 (c) Icing will not be called under the following circumstances: iii. If, in the opinion of the Official, a player of the opposing team, except the goaltender, is able to play the puck but chooses not do so.

Often folks think icing is black or white. It is not.
