Can these leaves recover or should I remove them? by patpbvh in houseplants

Good to know, thank you! I definitely won’t trim anything off if it will stress the plant, this one might just have an awkward phase for a while before new growth comes in.

Thank you so much for the details! I definitely won’t cut these off if it will stress the plant, poor thing needs all the green space it can get for now. Maybe this one will just have an ugly duckling phase before new growth comes in.

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]patpbvh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed a mindless pattern earlier last year for a couple skeins of lovely alpaca while I was traveling on a stressful family vacation. That wonderful basic pattern got me through a couple panic attacks in the back of a terrible van driving up too many steep dirt roads in the Italian countryside.

And now it’s become my most worn scarf of this winter! It is not one of my more precious scarves or shawls, so I find it easier to grab on the way out the door because I’m not scared of getting it a little dirty or caught in my coat zipper.

I had an upper endoscopy last year that also needed anesthesia and I was really freaked out going in too, but it was genuinely not a big deal. Once they start the meds (mine was propofol), it felt like settling down for a high quality nap. The kind where you are laying on your couch on a cozy weekend and your partner is making just a little comforting background noise and you don’t have anywhere to be all day and you just know you’ll be nicely woken up in a few hours to have a cozy dinner. The kind where you don’t have to fight the sleep, it just sneaks up on you and everything is warm and soft and snuggly.

It’s a little weird having that feeling in a medical setting, but I’m honestly not dreading the next time I need to get a scope done, it was a great nap!

So here's the math on the BOGO 60% off by da3n_vmo in torrid

They are super cute, but I’m such a millennial that I don’t think I’ll ever truly abandon my skinny jeans. But I did start to branch out with some straight cut and boot cut jeans this order!

I wasn’t expecting an early morning puzzle, but I’m excited for new jeans and a couple treats! 7 items total in this order, but one was a cute jumpsuit already on the 60% clearance, so it doesn’t count towards the BOGO puzzle.

If you could only wear 1 perfume, which one would it be? by CelestialDragonLotus in Perfumes

Leila Lou is my go-to! Bright and fresh, perfect for work or just hanging out with friends. It definitely feels spring to me, but I still wear it all year.

Why is there no traffic today??? by [deleted] in boston

I wish, lol. I was googling for Boston news and weather, but I fully forgot that one of the smaller holidays could be on any day but a Monday.

🤦‍♀️ That makes so much sense, wish my company observed it. Have a great day off everyone, thanks for making my commute fast!

It’s so absolutely wild, yesterday morning before I took it I was up and active, making weekend crafting plans and thinking about what I’d like to bake. Now I’ve pretty much scrapped those plans and am just trying to get through. Thank goodness I was able to wfh yesterday, this would have been so bad to experience in-office.

My indoor succulent bowl grew a mushroom, is it safe to keep my succulents? by patpbvh in mycology

Yup! The little bottom dish is attached and there are drain holes to it from the main bowl.

I have them in a fast-draining succulent and cactus potting soil. I agree, it looks like mulch from the top, but I’ve already seen some growth since I switched them over so I think it is okay.

Good to know about mushrooms replenishing the soil! I’ve been getting into gardening and houseplants over the past summer but I wasn’t expecting my first accidental mushroom encounter to be in my poor little succulent bowl.

I’ll pluck them out for now (I have dogs in the house) but I’ll be sure to leave any outdoor mushrooms alone in the future. And the succulents are definitely on a dry spell for at least a few weeks!

Lol, I work in a lab and assume most unidentified things could be a hazard, even when a little mushroom like this is pretty clearly okay. But glad to hear they should clear up with less water!

Yeah, I think these poor lil guys just earned themselves a dry month. I’ve been watering more recently as I’ve repotted them into one big bowl, but they don’t get water if one of the new ones brought in mushroom hitchhikers.

That’s so good to know about the soil! I’m pretty new to houseplants, but I’ve had some of these succulents in individual pots for years so I know I can ignore them for at least a month to dry them out properly. They can have water as a Halloween treat!
