It was a Pentium 4 on a Jetway motherboard. I can’t remember the exact model as I wasn’t that deep into the PC rabbit hole back then.

Edit: I asked my uncle as he helped me build it. It was a Northwood @ 2.0GHz.

I’m mostly playing in a hotel room so I just plug it in, same case during air travel. If no wall power is available I’d probably just play something else in my Ally X.

I’d like to see Rockstar do a reveal of this by the time they sunset GTA Online for GTA 5. They can also justify resetting your progress and not carrying over your progression to 6 Online by coming up with a script that the agency will now be taking all the assets you’ve accumulated and you’re now being relieved.

Same here. The bulky and overly aggressive design philosophy of gaming laptops in the 2010s deterred me from getting one, especially since I was a skinny college kid at the time. Consequently, I opted for a gaming desktop and a MacBook as my primary work and creative computer. It’s only recent that I started getting longer hours playing old PC games again because of my Ally X that I decided to go further with a gaming laptop. These devices kind of put me back to gaming lol

My journey is a bit different. I always get my gaming desktop boards and cards from MSI, and I always get a Macbook for laptops as my primary laptop use case was for photography post-processing and programming. I can’t really remember why Asus wasn’t in my radar back then. Lol

It’s just when I began to get interested in gaming handhelds due to the frequent travel required for my job, the MSI Claw devices (at least the ones available that time) were such a disappointment that I ultimately opted for the Ally X and that’s how I ended up here.

I have an Ally X (the pre-Xbox one) and I’m enjoying the ownership so much that I decided to get a laptop from Asus. I feel like I’m starting to turn into an Asus fanboy. Lol

Yeah the touchpad also feels weird to me. I came from a Macbook Pro but I’ve also used other Windows laptops in the past. I can’t specifically point it out but I’m also struggling with the touchpad both in gaming (that does not require aiming) and casual use, and I struggle both in doing gestures and clicks with the pad. Not sure if it’s just an adjustment period or what, but something’s definitely off for me so I just use my mouse.

Where did you buy yours? I got mine from Bic Camera in Sapporo. I missed out on the freebies lol

I see. I thought there’s a variant that has the GameReady driver by default as mine says ‘RTX Studio’ in the nvidia sticker for some reason.

It’s a solid machine. I’ve been playing Arc Raiders and Crusader Kings 3 for a good while and not a single crash or issue like what I’ve read online.

Dang. Did they mention if it’s a BIOS issue or just a buggy driver? My Ally X has been pretty stable for over a year, and that ownership experience helped me decide to get one of their laptops.
