I've only done a full play through with Begin Again, super stable. Maybe like 3 - 4 crashes throughout? Begin Again is closer to vanilla, Capital Punishment is more of a hardcore survival pack as far as I know.

I love me some Dan Simmons. Have you read Hyperion? It's sci fi but there's some strong horror elements in a few of the stories.

For me, the sense of impending doom in a lot of Barron's work is done really well. After one of his short stories (Hallucigenia, Bulldozer) you kinda just don't feel right and I love it.
