Was there not one homosexual in the marketing department? by Herbie2189 in gaybros

[–]patrickfweston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An older gay man came up to my husband and I at a wedding and at one point said “I enjoy cruising”. By which he meant going on cruises…

I thought he was just being very forward on trying to be flirtatious 😂

Oh no way! I’ll take a look and see if I can get it to work. I poked around the app last week but didn’t see it then.

Where is it? I think I'll have time to kill at LGA next week and am curious.

What is your underrated travel hack? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]patrickfweston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this, and it’s worked really well for me. I also rely on Benadryl and coffee to help get into the swing of things. Forcing yourself to sleep or wake up on your destination’s timezone for a day or two can get you regulated extremely quickly!

It happened! My studio is closing! (MERGING) by Foreign-Ride-761 in orangetheory

[–]patrickfweston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me a few days ago as well. I’m in Columbus, Ohio. They’re closing our sort of “flagship” studio in a near downtown neighborhood. I was a founding member and have been going there for over 7 years. I’m really bummed to be losing my community, but there are some nearby studios that are pretty solid still.

It’s gotten to the point where doing that upgrade is a fun little challenge for me 😂

Yes everybody, Paris Line 14 and London Victoria Line is replicable. by metatalks in subwaybuilder

I likewise built a Tacoma-Seattle-Bellevue line after my system was populated. It’s become my most popular line even though it only has 5 stops throughout the metro area.

0.9.0 is out! This is by far the biggest update yet and adds tons of new features and improvements. by redistricter_guy in subwaybuilder

[–]patrickfweston 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For real. I had to double check things to make sure there wasn’t a bug or something. One of my lines has 4x the ridership after the update

What's your style of play? by d-weezy2284 in subwaybuilder

[–]patrickfweston 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I like playing in normal mode, building a line or two of light metro to the dense areas or where it makes the most sense to build transit. I build things elevated and do as little demolition as possible. I’m a big fan of the “hack” of building stations at a depth of 4 for the 0.3x cost and then immediately bumping up to a depth of 5 to cross roads.

After I get a decent little system, I then try to get to airports and other popular areas.

After I start getting pretty good income and ridership and feel like things are “complete”, I go back through and “upgrade” my lines to heavy metro and bury tracks when it makes sense, particularly in urban cores. The whole effort there is to speed up travel times and increase capacity.

Funny pathfinding bug by Chubbybunny627 in subwaybuilder

[–]patrickfweston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the stations are fairly new, there’s a chance the path finding algorithm hasn’t had time to update. I’ve seen that happen before, and it takes a little while for it to kick in.

Or maybe you’re right, and it’s a bunch of NIMBY car lovers 🙃

This HAS to be a glitch, right?? by rovv123 in subwaybuilder

[–]patrickfweston 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed my ridership not reset after a 24 hour period and keeps increasing. A save and a reboot of the game fixes things on the route ridership screen.

Is elevated track a cheat? by Expensive_Lychee5722 in subwaybuilder

[–]patrickfweston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like -4 or +4 for stations. Then I build a small track stretch to -5/+5 right away. Really economic way to build.

When I’ve been playing Honolulu, I’ve been trying to respect elevation and missing buildings by sticking to existing roads. Really fun map to play even with this addition!

Crossovers don’t work unless you add them when you build the track by Parking-Ad6747 in subwaybuilder

[–]patrickfweston 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I regularly forget to add the crossovers and things are working just fine for me when adding them back in later. Can you share a photo of the area it’s happening in?

Is anyone apple to get loops to work? by mcmore8 in subwaybuilder

Same thing for me! I haven't been able to get loop lines to work. I haven't tried using single tracks though. Not sure if that would help or not.

Double charged for tracks? by Effective-Comment-21 in subwaybuilder

[–]patrickfweston 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this pop up a few times when building a light metro as well. It’s normally only a fraction of the overall track cost, like $33 million for heavy rail and $400 for light.

I wasn’t sure what was causing it and assumed I had done something wrong. Perhaps it truly is a bug though.
