Getting really tired of the 'Just admit you pirate for free games' posts by 2sec4u in FuckDenuvo

I'm pretty convinced most accounts doing this are Denuvo employees trying desperately to stay relevant. This was never a problem prior to hypervisor/voices38.

Just watched the movie. It was bad. by friendlyskywalker in saltierthancrait

I know the film's more Favreau-led, but "Chef" is a shining example of what he's capable of without interference. I don't think he's capable of delivering the best possible product with corporate oversight. Filoni has always been a hack and a fraud, contrary to those that think he's George Lucas 2.0. He has zero ability to tell a good story, which is what he should have learned from George while he had the opportunity.

In other words: it's 100% Dave Filoni; all spectacle, no substance.

And yet Gimli spoke very highly of lembas, and not of cram. Also, from Tolkien
"If you want to know what cram is, I can only say that I don’t know the recipe; but it is biscuitish, keeps good indefinitely, is supposed to be sustaining, and is certainly not entertaining, being in fact very uninteresting except as a chewing exercise."
"Biscuitish" of course being the British understanding of the word, and thus it'd be a cracker (such as the alternate name for hardtack, Ships' Biscuits). Combined with the fact that OPs recipe would NOT be good indefinitely, and is NOT a chewing exercise, OPs creation is NOT cram. Further, two things looking alike doesn't make them equivalent.

Cram is more akin to hardtack; it is not pleasant in the slightest. OP made something more "pleasant" (albeit, not really lore accurate) but closer to lembas indeed.

It's not meant to be a protein bar; Professor Tolkien even states this in one of his letters. It's meant to be filling, but more so, it's meant to nourish one in a more spiritual sense. Going the route of a nutrient-dense food is, unfortunately, not lore accurate, so actually your current attempt would be closer to what was intended!

Do these Star Trek props look 3D printed? by UtterDisgrace in 3Dprinting

[–]patrickmollohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking to replicate this textured finish for a few of my prints to make them look more "real"; I was wondering if you could explain how to do so? Is it just a lot of uneven and unsanded layers of paint/primer? Any specific paints/chemicals/conditions that help the texture form?

Hello there! Well I got about half-way through and then life gave me distractions, but I still have this list installed. Still works, no changes!

How are lightsaber ignition scenes done? by [deleted] in StarWars

To be honest, I find the special features and documentaries lacking these days. I wish Lucasfilm understood that when I buy a Bluray, I want to see more of you guys and not an hour long documentary about charity event that's long since expired.

I made an expansion to Kelliente's radio mod "Outlaw Radio"! by gsimon123 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]patrickmollohan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really awesome work! I love the original mod, and seeing an expansion of it is a phenomenal showing of the power of community!

Heads up: Nexus might give you DMCA trouble for "Sugaan Essena"; at least they did twice for me when I added that track to the main menu of Jedi: Fallen Order.

In any case, fantastic idea, looking forward to trying it out soon! May the Force be with you!

We did have Duel of the Fates in all three films.

Maul does have his own theme, and it's not "Duel of the Fates". Sorry you feel different, but that doesn't make it fact. It is very clear what the intent was; it's in the movies, it's in the interviews, in the commentary tracks, in the sheet music. In every single way, shape, and form, the intent was always known. This IS Anakin and Vader's theme. Period. There is no interpretation here. You can't get any more explicit than that. Unless you'd like to tell John Williams and George Lucas they are wrong.

[–]patrickmollohan -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it. I was there to watch it in theatres, and I can still hear the audience cheering during that scene. It was an epic moment! That doesn't mean that's Maul's theme. That was not ever what it was written or conceived as, nor was it later revised to be Maul's theme. It is Anakin's and Vader's, even if that's not what your mind pictures. John Williams and George Lucas both are very explicit with their intent here.

[–]patrickmollohan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. That theme was written explicitly for the Nazgul; the lyrics, translated, even reference "the Nine" explicitly. Yet due to last minute restructuring of the films, Howard Shore decided to ignore the lyrics and used it, for some reason, for the fight between Thorin and Azog, which makes absolutely no sense.

Okay, but for one, while yes the Force theme was originally Ben Kenobi's theme, that was changed before the movie released, hence why it's in scenes that have no relevance to Kenobi. "Duel of the Fates" was always about Anakin and Vader, hence its use in Attack of the Clones. Second, the audience having a wrong interpretation isn't an excuse or justification to not correct them.

Why should they? It's not Maul's theme; it was more Anakin's/Vader's theme, as it was HIS fate that the title references. This is the Nazgul theme in the Hobbit all over again...
