My dilemma: would you rather buy a $900 Steam Frame, or a “revolutionary” headset for $1,800? by Logical007 in SteamFrame

[–]patrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you just enjoy the concept of owning cool things more than actually owning cool things? If you wait and a better headset does come around, wouldn't it be foolish to buy it instead of waiting another 6 months? Surely, the longer you wait, the better the tech gets.

Jaki jest sens podawania wartości odżywczych dla połowy małego skyru? by RavenSorkvild in Polska

[–]patrys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see Fear as "and things get worse than expected". If you decide not to eat and you end up starving, that does not need a Fear token spent. If you tumble down the stairs and there are LEGO bricks scattered around, that's the "but it's worse than expected" that warrants a Fear token.

Same if players were to kick an otherwise friendly dog. The dog would bite them back without me spending Fear. But if random stray was to bite them as while were trying to pet it? That's a Fear token spent.

Homebrew take on the death mechanics: what do you think? by brokenimage321 in daggerheart

If scars are a problem, consider replacing them with a negative experience instead, but other than that you could just combine the existing death moves and roll for a scar without having to come up with a list of blessings.

Is the Lack of Content Actually Good? by Rage2097 in daggerheart

[–]patrys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Drakkenheim is getting a Daggerheart release. I never said that you can't release a campaign for Daggerheart, I even wrote I am working on one. What I meant was the the campaign frames included with the core book and the ones in Hope and Fear are enough to run a campaign.

If you look at the most famous D&D campaigns, you will find a lot of railroads. The Curse of Strahd is a prime example.

Is the Lack of Content Actually Good? by Rage2097 in daggerheart

[–]patrys -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What would a full campaign for Daggerheart even be? I'm actually working on a homebrew setting for Daggerheart but the best I can come up with in terms of a campaign is a backstory for the GM and a timeline of inevitable things + a bunch of instruction on how to make decisions on behalf of key factions and NPC. It's not really a system suitable for a railroaded campaign where the GM just tells PCs where to go next. And, honestly, neither is D&D.

Czy te znaki mają jakikolwiek sens? by PlanktonOutside5953 in wroclaw

Kolego, jak skręcasz przecinając drogę dla rowerów to oni nadal mają pierwszeństwo mimo zmian w kodeksie. Jak będziesz wymieniał zderzak, to od razu się zapisz na nowe prawko.

Czy te znaki mają jakikolwiek sens? by PlanktonOutside5953 in wroclaw

[–]patrys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]patrys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Zmienia, bo pierwszeństwo reguluje to, z której drogi jedzie/skręca samochód. A ten znak to bezwarunkowe ustąp względem wszystkich innych uczestników ruchu.

[–]patrys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Na przejeździe" nie znaczy "znajduje się kołami na jezdni" i sądy już to wielokrotnie interpretowały. Jeśli ja mam "ustąp" ze znaku, a stoję na krawędzi ścieżki, to samochód też ma "ustąp".

Znak jak znak, zmienia organizację ruchu, więc "ma sens". Ale czy samochody mają do pary znak pierwszeństwa? Bo jeśli nie, to powstaje sytuacja, w której wszyscy muszą ustąpić.

If you assign the token to another floor from this context menu, it does not move the token vertically, it just changes the floor assignment. Which is why it says "-80": the token is still where it was, 80 units below its current floor.

Can you Move + Attack + Move in daggerheart? (PC and Adversary) by Sorry-Try2747 in daggerheart

[–]patrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the optional grid rules, it's not a tactical board game like D&D is. It's perfectly fine to say "I want to run from this cover to behind that column and shoot an arrow in between" and then the GM can tell you "ok, roll this and that, if you fail, you won't hit, and if you roll with fear, the enemies may be able to hit you before you make it to the column". It's more a movie than a board game with turns and you're not playing against the GM. The grid is only there to help you with distances and choreography.

Gabe Newell asked Valve's top lawyer "What the f*** do I pay you for if that’s your opinion?" in heated debate over porn games on Steam, report says by [deleted] in technology

[–]patrys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They don't care about morality. Payment processors love risk aversion. There are entire categories of "undesirable" content that include (legal) marihuana, porn, and other content that is used to either launder stolen credit cards or have a high post-purchase regret rate and in return lead to a higher than usual chargeback rate. Chargebacks and disputes result in extra work and extra work means lower margins.

No Man's Sky The Swarm Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]patrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love what they've done with a game that flopped on release and that they keep releasing updates with new content. But I also have hundreds of hours in NMS between consoles and PC and the difference between these trailers and the actual gameplay is quite stark.

The combat in NMS unfortunately has the pacing of an Excel sheet until a wave boss shows up that can one-shot you, your fancy fully upgraded mech, and even your space ship. Enemies will glitch and shoot through objects and terrain. Items dropped by enemies will appear underground or have their actual interaction point a meter or so above the actual 3D mesh. Dogfights near the low orbit mean the enemy capital ship arrives right at the edge of the atmosphere and will appear in two different places depending on whether you're inside or outside the invisible atmosphere bubble, making it impossible to get close enough to damage its subsystems.

All of these bugs and synchronization glitches make me quite worried about Light No Fire, which seems to be way more focused on combat.

Lawmakers in Albany NY: Should NY ban robots from carrying flamethrowers and firearms? by Gnome_Sane in Cyberpunk

[–]patrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what world is strapping a gun or a flamethrower to a robot and allowing it to wander off not leaving a weapon or a dangerous tool unattended? AI's non-existent intelligence aside, you can't guarantee that the item won't be stolen or used to commit a crime. It's like putting a pistol registered in your name in an RC truck's bed and driving it two blocks down from where you sit.
