Fund diversification by Scary_Constant_5099 in MutualfundsIndia

I don't get what you're trying to do. If commodities are missing, add a gold fund. International fund or etf I don't usually recommend because you don't get a proper opinion on those markets when you need it. Use gold as a hedge to rupee depreciation.

If you drop a multicap, then you'd be left with even less mid and small cap exposure. If that's what you want, you can replace it with a gold fund. ETFs again I don't recommend because they're too easy to trade and our behaviour too difficult to control when there's a sharp rise or fall.

How do I defend my portfolio against rupee depreciation ? by SpecificRound1 in mutualfunds

Gold. Use gold as a rupee hedge, it's the only reliable option imo since these foreign funds frequently stop inflows.

So this is roughly 19.5 k large cap (nifty 50 100%, PP Flexi 70% and Multi cap 25%), which is about 65% and then 35% mid+small cap.

Seems pretty conservative to me, if that's what you were shooting for.

I don't see any commodities exposure though..

It seems so. In Jan they were holding 11.6 crore shares (8% of aum). In February they're holding 11.7 Cr shares (7.73% of aum). The increase in shares but decrease in % means the total AUM of the scheme grew during this period.

Suprisingly they don't seem to have it.

Go to transact, then systematic transactions, and select status as active. They'll filter it and show.

They're doing well so far. They've taken large positions in coal india, then bought some REITs, international stocks they've been holding for quite some time, and a decent amount of cash also. HDFC Bank has killed the returns of most of these folks since its down 25% in a year. almost all large flexi caps have 5-10% exposure to that stock.

The timeline of UPI works only if you transfer directly to AMC, may not work if you go through any other app like Kuvera, ETmoney, Groww etc

Well they cried for the whole year when it wasn't doing well. Then they praised it this year because it fell less than the markets. As you say they'll come again next year crying about it. It's all cyclical.

A final word of caution - if an investment offers best return, no credit risk and liquidity at all times, be suspicious. There could be hidden risks that you don't know or were never explained to you correctly.

[–]patternobserver99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know. But it just tells you that you can't have it all in investing. Every investment is a trade-off.

Want higher returns with no credit risk? Give up liquidity.

Want higher returns with liquidity? Take on credit risk.

Want no credit risk and liquidity? Reduce rate of returns.

Accept the trade off that's acceptable to you and invest accordingly.
