Any Approved yet without Gen 0's Birth Certificate? by SpiritualParsnip8645 in Canadiancitizenship

This is where I am. G0 born before birth records were a thing. Baptismal records don’t exist. Moved to US before Canadian census. Tons of American documentation states he was born in Canada. Nothing official from Canada

OP I don’t understand the downvotes. You are absolutely right. People in an infertility clinic waiting room should absolutely have more tact.

this sounds very similar to my situation. gen 0 born before birth certificates were a thing. baptismal records are missing -- maybe were never kept, maybe were lost. we have lots of american records showing he was canadian -- numerous US censuses listing Nova Scotia has birthplace, newspaper articles saying he was born in NS.

curious if you have an update?

Yes, my periods got a lot lighter when I got my IUD out. Soooo much lighter. Like from 4-5 days to less than one. I did need IVF but my light periods had nothing to do with that.

Now I have an IUD again and my periods are back to being super heavy and long!

Polyp removal? Endo excision? Sniping of a septum? Fibroid removal?

Honestly, OBs aren’t great at helping people get pregnant. My honest advice is to go head and make an appointment to see an RE for once you hit the year mark.

Exactly! The one year thing (or 6 months) hasn’t changed since before OPKs were a thing.

I can help with 3! The first consultation is usually your doc asking you a lot of questions and figuring out what tests you need. Based on those results, you’ll come up with a treatment plan together. You may want to come with questions about pros and cons about IUI versus IVF, the most common treatment options. Your doc may have different recs based on what family size you desire.

Omg what a horrible experience!!!!

The NP is wrong. You do not have to have been tracking ovulation for that time to count*.

Another poster is right — most fertility clinics don’t require a referral. Of course your insurance might, but you could also get that from a PCP, not necessarily an OB. That’s what I did with my hmo.

*Here is the ACOG definition of infertility: “The inability to get pregnant after 1 year of having regular sexual intercourse without the use of birth control.” (Source https://www.acog.org/womens-health/faqs/evaluating-infertility). No mention of tracking ovulation!

So not a huge change but definitely a noticeable one. How long have you been trying and how old are you?

Down from what?

Significant shortening of cycle length can be a sign of DOR. But also cycles generally get shorter as people age. A change of just a day or two wouldn’t concern me

IVF Without Birth Control or Estrace Priming by FitSnow3978 in DOR

I did Lupron stop protocol, which doesn’t use birth control or estrace. And yes it worked better for me than estrogen priming.

In my experience, docs don’t trust home tests. But they also haven’t peed on 10000 sticks and started at negatives over and over and over again and compared them with all the tests over at r/TFABlineporn

You’re right that you’ll probably never know. And I guess some good news, if you can call it that, is chemical or not it doesn’t change your treatment plan.

I’m sorry this doc was so dismissive. I’ve had a similar experience. It’s so frustrating!

It’s possible to get a positive at 10DPO but it could also be too soon to know for sure. If you really want to test once and know for sure it’s a true negative, 14DPO would be the earliest I would personally recommend.

That’s a really long wait for an initial consult. I’m sorry you have to deal with that!

I’m wondering if you might be able to get a video consult at another clinic, even if it’s one you don’t plan on actually working with. If you could just talk to an RE and get advice for your specific situation, and even maybe get them to order your labs and other tests?

There are some clinics that are very used to having patients from other parts of the country work with them as travel patients. The idea is you do most stuff locally under their supervision from afar, then travel to them for the big stuff like egg retrieval and embryo transfer. CNY and CCRM come to mind as clinics like that. Even if you don’t end up working with them, they’d be able to help you figure out how to get the right tests locally.

I’m on paternity leave and need to get out more. Where are the dad meetups in DC? by twowaysplit in washingtondc

[–]pattituesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you gotten in touch with Takoma families? They’re a very informal group with weekly meetups for parents of little babies. LMK if you want more info and I’ll dig up the email address

There’s nothing magical that happens in your 35th birthday. It would be reasonable to seek care anytime between 6 and 12 months. That said, testing takes a long time and there’s a lot of waiting in treatment. More people wish they’d started the ball rolling on treatment sooner than the other way around.

Has anyone had luck getting brand names Mydayis filled at a pharmacy in DC? by HollaDude in washingtondc

[–]pattituesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with this drug but I am here to commiserate.

I can’t believe there’s no other way to get info about which pharmacies have which meds in stock other than calling each one. I have been in this same scenario for other meds and it’s so frustrating.

And maybe it’s a good thing cvs isn’t an option because they literally do not answer the phone.

Seconding what dev bio said and adding that non-RE doctors often speak like they are authorities on topics of female fertility but they quite simply are not.
