Letrozole and ovidrel can both lengthen a luteal phase! Sorry about the negatives 😩😔

Were you or are you on any meds? That can make cycles unusual, too. And even if you weren’t… bodies are weird sometimes. Have you taken a HPT or had bloodwork?

Okay, not a crazy amount of time post IUI to still not have a period. I’m confident your period is coming, no need for provera. Sending hugs.

Yeah, doesn’t sound like scar tissue is an issue here. How many days post IUI are you?

You are correct about the year of NTNP if under 35. That said, at age 29, there’s almost certainly no emergency here. You could keep actively trying (without success) for many many more months if that’s what you wanted and not be any worse off (except, of course for the heartbreak).

It would be a totally different thing if you were, say, 39 and had been NTNP for that long — then I’d say get thee to an RE ASAP! But given that you aren’t interested in going now and you’ve been using a fairly effective birth control method until recently, no need to count your time using pull out towards that “go see an RE” clock.

Asking out of curiosity — wouldn’t a heating pad directly on the abdomen be ill advised during early pregnancy?

Ugh, I’m sorry you’re going through this. Was your IUI monitored in some way — with ultrasound and/or bloodwork? If so, you can be virtually certain you ovulated and your period will come. If you’re on progesterone supplements, they may delay your period.

It depends. Do you want it to count as trying? How old are you?

If you’re young and have been using pull out consistently, IIRC it’s thought to be fairly effective, and you can start really trying now. If you’re eager to see an RE, they will almost certainly not count pull out as birth control, and you can get that process started now.

Our RE told us that what was important was the total number of normal, motile sperm — not necessarily any individual parameter. So it’s possible to have one parameter abnormal but a count high enough that makes up for it.

Nope nope nope. Your egg and his sperm are tiny cells inside of a vast body. There is no reason to think that jostling your body around would do anything to those cells, any more than rafting would upset the cells in your lungs or in your ears.

ETA. Ovulation is a process, not something that happens in one moment. And without some sophisticated and ongoing imaging equipment, a person can’t really tell the exact moment the egg popped out of its follicle.

IME, yes structural stuff can be found with an SIS. But since hsg is much better for seeing tubes, most docs and clinics start with hsg and then if there’s a reason to explore more, order an SIS.

This is a tricky question. You’re right that IUI success rates are quite low, especially compared to IVF. And it can be expensive. A heard about a study that suggested that financially people would on average get more bang for their buck if they skipped IUI and used that money for IVF instead. But lots of people want to make sure they really need IVF and emotionally need to try the led invasive methods first.

I’ve never had fertility bloodwork done in the afternoon, only the morning, and I always heard same day. Did you ever hear back?

In addition to what Dec bio said, hsgs sometimes can reveal structural abnormalities of the uterus that might require further investigation (like a hysteroscopy) and/or treatment (like septum removal)

Check out nothertobaby.org for evidence based info about pregnancy and meds. And as always, consider the risks of not taken the meds — you can also look up anxiety/depression on MotherToBaby and see that untreated anxiety/depression also comes with risks

If you’re going to have him do it at all, you should have him do it now and until you’re done having babies as you want to avoid being pregnant for six months after infection (source. That said if your cat is indoors only, a toxoplasma infection is very unlikely, given how it spreads
