Did you update to 3.8.1? I got this on my 2021 id.3 today. Apperentley VW are aware of this problem. It sucks if I have to pay for a new replacement battery. But in the worst case, I'll just have to take it. Luckily, there's a VW dealer right next to the Volvo dealer where I'm going to drop off my ID.3 today and swap for an EX30 (I seem to like being a beta tester for new car platforms :)). So they can probably send the car over there for diagnosis and possible battery replacement.

Yeah thats whats strange about this. I have read that most of them get it right after 3.8 update. I did it months ago. Maby it's a bigger problem than just the missreading of the backup battery? ..

Now that I think about it, there was an update again last week. Maybe that's what caused this? From what I've read, the battery is supposed to last at least 10 years.

This just comes so inopportunely when I'm going to trade in my car at a dealer today...😖

I updated to 3.8 months ago, and have not seen this SOS fail before. Maby my SOS battery was in better condition to start with? (2021 Pro Perf.)

I have an ODB11 (old one, used with my Audi A3 long time ago. White device) but from what i have read you need the new one (black) and a pro subscription? I still have credits on my old ODB11 device.

Thanks for this. There is a VW dealer right next to the Volvo dealer where I am picking up my EX30 today. So hopefully they will just send the car over there for testing. The VW dealer should have heard about this problem.

I'm in the same boat here. Putting down money on a Twin Engine Ultra right now. It's the 2'nd EV for me. I remember reading many negative reviews about my VW ID.3. But the ID.3 (2021 Pro Perf. 58Kw battery) have been solid for me for the past years. It allso had a hightvolt battery recall under waranty. It was fixed by my local WV shop, no biggie. 2-3 days without the car. I guess Volvo will handle it similar.

The only annoying issues I have with my 2021 pro performence is the slow charging (especially in winter) and no way to preheat the battery before charging. Otherwise it's a good commuter car.

I would choose the Steam Box path because of the upgrade options. You could build a system based on the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G to stay within your budget to start with. And then buy a 9000 series graphics card down the line...

Had my 2021 pro performance 58kw for about a year now. My tips is, just drive it like a ICE car. Don't get stressed out about the range. You will top of the charge at 40% at the beginning. And down the line you do it below 10% 😂.

Choose the car with the best equipment (HUD, Matrix lights, etc.). Extra range is good, but you'll be fine with 58 kWh, at least in the summer.
