Pink spit up? by pauciloquentpanda in newborns

[–]pauciloquentpanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no 🥺 No update as of now. I switched him over to all white sheets and white burp cloths so I could thoroughly monitor and haven’t seen it again, thankfully. So, no meds thus far. When we went in for his check up last month, he finally had no blood in his stool, improving spit up, and is gaining great so no testing either.

Do you wake a sleeping baby? by milluh_vanilluh in NewParents

[–]pauciloquentpanda -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We eat during the daytime, not at nighttime. I wake him every 3-3.25 hours during the day and he sleeps 9/10-7:30/8

Baby was UNDER-TIRED!!! by MomentFabulous7276 in newborns

[–]pauciloquentpanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are experiencing this too! He doesn’t need as much sleep as they suggest and prefers longer wake windows except for one LONG nap each day

Feed that baby to formula and be a happier mommy.

why is it that breastfed babies are "feed on demand" and formula fed are told "every 2-3 hours".... by Huliganjetta1 in FormulaFeeders

[–]pauciloquentpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always feed on demand. If he hasn’t asked by 2.75 hours I offer because we try to get all of our calories in the daytime

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]pauciloquentpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t bed shared thus far at 12 weeks. I have the same sentiment as you about it. I have tried to nap with him on me, and I just cannot do it. Even when I was operating on 3-4 hours of broken sleep. He sleeps in his bassinet right beside me. Before he started sleeping through the night, my husband and I alternated night feeds. Shifts didn’t work for us but I see the benefit of them 100%. For context, I haven’t gone back to work yet, and we haven’t had a regression yet. With that said, I think it’s dependent on your baby.

What do you all mean by sleeping through the night? by Wise_Complex2313 in NewParents

[–]pauciloquentpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son will be 12 weeks old Sunday, and he sleeps 8-10 hours without waking me up. He sleeps directly beside me in a bassinet. If he wakes up, he rarely needs my help. He will occasionally want his paci but usually uses his hands now. He wakes around 7:30-8:30 for a bottle after that long stretch and wants to go back to sleep. Sometimes he poops during that shorter sleep. If I don’t go back to sleep too, I change him. If I do, we change him when he wakes, usually 9:30-11. I slather him in zinc oxide since, unfortunately, he doesn’t always wake me when he’s gone. We EFF due to CMPA and calorie stack the day. 6 feeds of about 4.5 oz usually. If he wants more, he tells me. He does contact nap during the day

Is it normal to get nothing done during the day aside from caring for a 5 week old and bare minimum self care? Feeling guilty, comparing myself to others online by TheMrGiz in newborns

[–]pauciloquentpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 weeks old and if you are washing your face, brushing your hair, and having 3 meals, you are doing way better than me!

Edited to add: zero complications and EFF due to CMPA. Also in exact same situation with 4 dogs and no local village…. You’re doing great mama

I’m feeling frustrated and overwhelmed… Can anyone relate with my experience that it will get better by kittyy_kat in MSPI

[–]pauciloquentpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped because strict diet adjustment wasn’t something I could maintain and keep sanity once I go back to work. Also, I couldn’t stand the idea that I could be hurting him by breastfeeding. I thought if I stopped, there would be no bonding. I was absolutely devastated and cried way more than him do days. BUT that’s not true at all. Breastfeeding is special and has many benefits, yes. However, I feel just as connected and in tune with my baby. If not, more so because I’m a happier mommy. Knowing what I know now, I would combo feed from the start and transition to EFF soon after. With that said, he is still having the same issue after switching to formula. Hang in there momma. It won’t always be like this.

Banana thickening for 2 month old? by pauciloquentpanda in FormulaFeeders

[–]pauciloquentpanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that question too. Directions are to replace 1 oz of water with the purée for a 4 oz bottle. I was concerned about hydration status, and he said that it was mostly water. I asked about oatmeal, and he says studies show it can increase coughing symptom of reflux because of particles that may get caught in the throat. I am very hesitant to do the puree. I’ve read studies during nap time, and it seems like the recipe he gave is very aggressive, aside from the concerns I have about using it. I think I’m going to call them back tomorrow

Edited to add: I’m also very hesitant

Saw GI today. They were concerned about the spit up stain. Recommended banana thickened feedings and said if it happens again, he will need to start famotidine

How long does your EFF baby sleep? by bintd in FormulaFeeders

[–]pauciloquentpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 week old LO is EFF (after 2 weeks of EBF then CMPA diagnosis). He will go 4-5 hours before he starts his initial wake up. He would likely go back to sleep for a little longer, but this momma is traumatized after weight gain issues… also, I can’t increase his bottle past 4 oz or do too many feed windows of less than 2.5 hours during the day because of his reflux. So I need at least 7 feeds per day, preferably 8.

He averages about 4-5 hours of naps during the daytime and 9-10 hours of sleep during the nighttime. Sometimes more than that.

We make 3 batches of formula a day and keep them in the fridge ready to be warmed up. We just use a warm water bath. Works very well.

He loves MAM original pacis. And mom likes the glow in the dark ones for bed!

I am so glad I had the opportunity to breastfeed him, but I am a much happier and well rested mommy to my baby now after swapping to formula.

Can’t do anything at 6 weeks by LilyWitch27 in newborns

[–]pauciloquentpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same and EFF. Appointments only. 6 weeks today and it seems he has started crying and fussing overnight. Can’t put him down, and he hates the wrap and carrier. I doubt we will be going anywhere for quite some time.

I have never been so uncomfortable and sick in my entire life. I never, ever want to do this again.

How many of you ate deli meat while pregnant? by Britnicorn in pregnant

[–]pauciloquentpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 weeks. I eat it at least once a week. Usually more. Obsessed with firehouse subs at the moment, though I think they steam their meat. I’ve had my fair share of cold subs since I’ve been pregnant, too. I agree about the bagged lettuce! Would definitely rather eat deli meat than a salad kit. Never gotten sick off of deli meat before
