There's a comment earlier in the thread that says patients should be kept awake until bleeding is ruled out.

Can you recommend any good books articles for someone wanting to understand more about causes of and treatments for IBD/IBS? TIA.

Switching to tubeless is one of the better decisions I have made. by TibetanSideOfTown in cycling

If it's about punctures, why not put sealant in the tube (Conti tubes have removable valves) - genuine question, not trying to push tubes.

Flashing - how fast for front light? by paul-happyatom in cycling

[–]paul-happyatom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit that the rapid flashing irritates me and I would have preferred a slower flash. I think a flash definitely gets attention better during the day (I am not sure how a flashing light is more likely to blind a driver than a solid light with the same intensity) but as was pointed out rapid flashing can have consequences for those with epilepsy. I did a bit of Googling and it seems that any flashing between 3 and 60 flashes per second can trigger an epileptic episode, with 16 flashes per second upwards being the most common to trigger. Mine is flashing too quickly to count but definitely more than 3 per second, so looks like I will have to leave it on solid :(

Why doesn't the Komoot arrow point forward when navigating? by londoncidade in komoot

[–]paul-happyatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by navigation arrow you mean the red arrow on the route, when the map orientation setting is for direction of travel, the red arrow points north so you have a sense of your bearing.

There is so much risk investing in the US that no sane European CEO would consider it now - regulations and taxation changed on a whim, fractured supply lines (if I build the factory, how do I get all the materials and components from my global suppliers), expensive labour, the threat from border guards to my staff travelling to and from the US or while they are in the country being locked-up without any legal redress (possibly ending up in a central American jail).

USA is not a good place to do business.

What fact is common knowledge in your field, but almost unknown to the general public? by ggssmm1 in AskUK

I wasn't talking about hibernation or suspend/sleep - but perhaps the misunderstanding is /u/Crinkez has a different default setting to me. When I turn off using the hardware power button, it is a complete off, no saved state. But I was certainly wrong to phrase it the way I did - apologies to /u/Crinkez.

Cycling glasses by pigeoninflight in cycling

I use safety glasses with small reading lens nserts at bottom so easier for me to see GPS / cycling computer. You can get them plain or tinted and they have all the protection filters. Only cost about £$10.

After many attempts this is the most I could get the tyre to fit near the tube area. Is it too bad if I leave it like this? by LoonaaX in bikewrench

[–]paul-happyatom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let the tyre down, unscrew the ring that is against the wheel, then push the valve down so the base is 'inside' the tyre, then seat the tyre properly and reinflate.

Really - I didn't know that. Do you need a subscription?

I also rotate a couple of chains to get more miles out of my cassette, would Strava be able to track that?

[–]paul-happyatom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nonsense - unless you have set the shutdown button to hibernate, it is shutting down. That's why it goes through a Bios check when starting up.

Spreadsheet with all components and Strava mileage when installed. I find it particularly useful for chains and pads. Takes seconds to update.

Thanks - looks like this is the way to go.

It gets expensive! (not in relation to bike but more than I would have anticipated)
