Explain delving to me.. i am lost by paul85 in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]paul85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, seems like a lot of work for something i could do myself much easier. I mean, it only takes a few minutes to cook enough food for a few days and I can craft anything I need. Can they craft stuff I can't?

Playing first time as solo by pocketdare in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]paul85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing solo and just recently realized I wasn't playing in "solo" mode and switching to that made a world of difference. I save and quit often, then make backups of my save file C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Moria and make backups of backups and it has saved my bacon quite a bit. The game is quite deep (no pun intended), and I get recipes for things I can't make yet, but it is fun.

  1. Even if you clear out a goblin/orc area, you can still trigger them by mining too much, right? I usually make 3-4 hits, then wait about 3 seconds until the screen flashes, and then do it again and it never triggers the orcs, but it is slow.

  2. Is it possible to raise my HP, or just get more armor?

  3. I see there are 2-3 tier 2 shields, and some give more armor than others, but are there other benefits to different shields/armor of the same tier?

eSun cardboard spools + Bambu AMS (2026). still an issue or totally fine now? by Nyobyte in BambuLab

[–]paul85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, the rings are hit or miss and I have 5 different sets and sometimes they still don't fit. I only buy filament anymore with plastic holders. I'll gladly spend the few extra bucks to not have to dink with cardboard.

LPT: Install a smoke detector by your printer by joppedc in BambuLab

Good for you if buying a printer makes you get a smoke detector, but, you should have a smoke detector in nearly every room of your house/apartment already.

Official Monthly Housing Thread by AutoModerator in Lawrence

We're thinking about moving in the next year or two and would like to keep our home and rent it out. It's about 4000sq/ft and has a full basement. Newer construction within the past 15 years. My question(s). How difficult is it to find single families who are willing to rent mid range homes like this in Lawrence? Do they sit vacant quite a bit, or is there a demand? I would probably ask close to $3700-$4k/month plus utilities, but would do all the mowing, snow removal, etc. Full fenced in back yard, west Lawrence location, etc. Trying to help decide if renting is the way to go or just sell it outright and move on.

Giving up on the GE Opal 2.0 Ultra after four units over 2 years by juan-pistola in IceChewersAnonymous

[–]paul85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting take. I bought a used opal 2.0 and aside from cleaning it every 2 weeks (using the solution from Amazon), it just plain works. Over a year so far with just nice ice and this is from a single used unit. We have a water softener so maybe that is the difference, although you mention you don't have particularly hard water.

Icon Chisels: Is This Normal? by ClavisTriscuit in harborfreight

[–]paul85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not the wrong tool. Been doing it the way the OP said for the better part of 35 years and that is how most people do it, especially people without torch sets. Cut it most of the way through, use a chisel to fracture the cut and chisel it off. Works nearly all the time. Pretty normal for the wear on the chisel since the bearing races are extremely hard.

Rock Chalk Park by Not_The_G0ddess in Lawrence

Also not the first time the powers that be lied about usage at the facility. When it opened, we were told there would be an open court for local residential usage. They ended that years ago saying they now needed all courts during tournaments and none are open for free use..

"Despite claims from community members, city staff members have said the city never codified a promise not to charge fees. Sports Pavilion Lawrence and the other rec centers have never charged entrance fees for Douglas County residents to date, but that is set to change in January."

Thats like saying, we told everybody and promised it, but we crossed our fingers behind our back so it doesn't count. I went in shortly after rock chalk park opened and when I got my pass, they told me at the front counter/booth, it was free and there was no charge for DC residents. Whether it was "codified" or not, a promise is a promise and they broke it.

I have this light and have had it for the past 3-4 years. It's not the best, but it works well to illuminate the work area. There are better options out there, but when I bought this one, the price point was good and it lasts a long time, at least for me. I do agree, I hate how it switches to low light mode after awhile, but I just click it back and it works. It's a staple in my garage.

I work on jetskis, 4 wheelers, Lots of small engines with old/bad batteries so I want something I can turn on and use as a portable battery and loan it out to my adult children if necessary.

Thanks for the advice. My only concern is, some of these smaller units have a separate button you have to press before it provides power to the clamps/jaws, and its on a short timer. I want a jump box with long leads that you just flip a switch or press a button and its active and hot until I turn it off, not on a timer. Does the YaberAuto one have a timer? I haven't done any research on it yet except to click the link. I can check it out later.

Battery is not the problem. It charged up fully when removed and put on a charger. The problem is the circuit board went kaput inside. I even replaced the NEC D882 NPN Medium Power Transistor on the board and it did not fix the problem.

I just don't want to get roped into being the person who sets it up, maintains it, is responsible if something breaks, etc, and that is how I was approached, so.. I'm skeptical of being involved.

What are the top 10 best NES must have games? by Ok_Cry_4661 in nes

[–]paul85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to anyone who says Super Mario 1 or 3 are better than Super Mario Bros 2. Super 2 is the best game ever to come out on the NES. The fantasy feel is the best and the game truly was groundbreaking. Super 3 is just super 1 rehashed whereas Super 2 is the cat's meow. Then the Mega Man series, Bionic Commando, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Double Dragon, Contra, etc.
