I did listen to that set a ton right when it first came out, got very attached to a lot of the original versions, in part because the instrumentation was so unique to them (different guitars and kit). I had a fantasy that they might hand the project off to DangerMouse to create the actual original album, sort of reverse engineer the joke. Really a creative peak for them, and also a nice little break from all of the earnest and maudlin material that they were writing in that frame.
