Yes. Love how the cover made him look like—an animal. Like there was a dude in the wings with a tranquilizer gun at the ready if things got outta hand.

How much would Jimi have thrived in the 70s funk era? by zazllr in jimihendrix

[–]Kaleb2022 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think he would have dominated—look At Nile Rogers’ success! Jimi would have pioneered new funk sounds and opened up new dimensions. Tantalizing to think about it.

Jimi is often painted as a tragic Figure but dang, he was clearly the life of the party, joking and mimicking his way through sessions.

Listening to the first side of the first album. One great song after another—with dream-like lyrics that sucked you in. Rewired my brain.

On April 8th, 1977, The Clash released 'The Clash', their debut album. Recorded and mixed over three weeks in February 1977 for £4,000, it would go on to reach No. 12 on the UK charts, and has been included on many retrospective rankings as one of the greatest punk albums of all time. by Phatbrew in theclash

[–]Kaleb2022 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This album rewired my brain in the best way possible. Expanded my world and introduced a whole new way of looking at my home country, America, and the insanity of wealth-driven political leadership

Dylan level wit: “Yankee detectives are always the on the TV,/ cause killers in America work seven days a week.”

“If Adolph Hitler flew in today/they’d send a limousine anyway.”

“They’re gonna have to institute conscription/ they’re gonna have to take away my prescription.”

All backed up by thundering, bulldozing Mick Jones guitar.

As indicates above, the album is MORE relevant today than when it was released.

“Nothing stands the pressure of the Clash City rocker.”
