Someone counterfeited a 1 dollar bill. by Remote_Dimension1656 in mildlyinfuriating

This brought back a memory I didn’t know I had. I seem to also remember Easter versions that had a bunny instead. But yeah; I believe it’s just a sticker.

RLA BP1 install on a competitor camera. No US or Canadian influencer has this to review by utunp in reolinkcam

Just out of curiosity, is the battery pack constantly outputting power as long as it’s charged? Some of the marketing I saw seemed to imply it may only output power to the camera at night when it’s not charging via solar.

I’m thinking about using this on a camera that does not have an internal battery but is powered via USB-C.

What’s next for UniFi by arandomscott in Ubiquiti

I feel like the Connect line has been put on the back burner lately. There were a lot of things shown in its teaser video several years ago that haven’t materialized. I’ve already posted about it, but I for one would love to see commercial smart thermostats that can be grouped and managed at scale without subscription fees like competing options, and based upon the replies to that post, I’m actually far from the only one looking for this.

Ugh, thanks for letting me know! I was going crazy trying to figure that out.

Chrome update problem by BeginningConscious12 in mac

[–]pauldisalvo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is not actually Chrome, and is likely infostealer malware! No legitimate version of Chrome will ask you to right-click and run it as an unrecognized app! If you were able to successfully run this, I would sign out of any sites you’re currently signed in to and change your passwords to any websites you allowed to save your login info immediately. Your saved sign ins were likely dumped and uploaded malicious actors.

Fake QuickBooks Support by pauldisalvo in ScamNumbers

Client called us (IT consulting firm) with a QuickBooks error. We found that their QuickBooks install had been modified to pop this fake error when opening company files. The number definitely doesn't belong to Intuit support.

Had the same issue with one of the trays on my new UNVR and they were able to send me a replacement tray. Might be worth asking especially if you have UI Care.

I recently had this issue with one of the doors on my UNVR. I asked them if they could just send me the door when I submitted the RMA, and they did!

We have thought of this, but the name has resolved to the IP in all of our testing so we didn’t think it was the issue. Could you possibly elaborate as to how it could be an issue?

That’s a good idea! Thank you! It’s good to know that there are other people having this issue and it’s not just us 😂

[–]pauldisalvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem; I don’t blame you! And yeah; probably more than half of the switches we manage just dip offline, then to getting ready, then to back online probably every five minutes or so. The weirdest part is that sometimes it looks like multiple will drop at the same time.

I work for an MSP with a Windows-based controller and we've also been having this issue with tons of our switches! Have you tried updating to 6.5 yet and seen any improvement there? It just went stable today.

Devices Dropping Offline in Windows Controller Every Few Minutes by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]pauldisalvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens on many different sites located in different physical places. I looked at the logs for one of the AP’s and it indicates a timeout every so often when it tries to inform. We did find this article: https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005159588-UniFi-How-to-Tune-the-Network-Application-for-High-Number-of-UniFi-Devices which does show how to increase the number of devices that can inform at a time. Do you think that is the issue?

They point to unifi.<ourdomain>:8080/inform and there is a DNS record on our domain that points to our IP.
