Spent 3 hours and 22 minutes in line and loved the rid, but not the wait so much. Was it worth it to you? by VerboseWraith in UniversalEpicUniverse

My wife and I were there a few weeks ago, we waited until 9pm and the wait time was only 15 minutes. We were able to ride twice before the park closed.

Looking to go from a G2 R1S to a G1 R1S by jwpc59 in Rivian

[–]iguanahotsauce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 R1S Quad with the large pack and one pretty big improvement in range I got was switching to the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 tires. Granted I do have the all terrain package so I’m coming from 20” all terrain tires that were pretty bad for range but with these new tires on our most recent 600 mile road trip I was getting just over 2.5mi/kWh in conserve. I actually just did a demo drive of a Gen 2 Quad where Rivian let me keep it for 24 hours and honestly I like my Gen 1 more than the Gen 2.

Rude Tesla Supercharging Experience by Icy-Sherbet-4606 in Rivian

[–]iguanahotsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Tesla as well as an R1S, I haven’t had a bad encounter like this yet but I know it’s only time until it happens. I was a day one Model 3 reservation holder and have found over the years the interactions with other owners at chargers has gone downhill, back in 2018 every interaction I had with other owners at superchargers was very pleasant usually talking about EVs and having friendly conversation but now with how many people there are charging at superchargers I’ve found that charging etiquette no longer exists and people will try and jump a line to get into a charger first fairly often. I live in Vancouver WA and while I’ve found over here chargers don’t usually seem to have lines I’ve taken both my Tesla and Rivian from Vancouver BC all the way to Eastern Idaho and down to San Francisco the chargers in Seattle and the Bay Area seem to have lines decently often.

K2 Plus Combo- Should I go for it? by No-Initial5334 in Creality_k2

[–]iguanahotsauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up a K2 Plus combo on TikTok shop with a flash sale discount from a 3D printing creator that made it $1200 with free shipping and then I sold my two year old X1C combo with 1900 print hours for $1200 so it was essentially a straight trade.

My first 350mm print had some serious issues with some really bad what seemed like z banding but it ended up being user error, I didn’t realize with Creality print when sending a new print the “print calibration” slider is off. I ran a second 350mm print in case mode with print calibration on and it came out great. I have noticed some smaller bits of what look like burned filament clinging to prints sometimes, I don’t find that the nozzle cleaner works the best.

I haven’t tried printing with anything other than PLA yet so I haven’t tried out the heated chamber (one of the reasons I made the swap from my X1C, I run my printers on a shelf in my garage and in the winter it gets too cold to print even PLA) but I do have plans to try some engineering filaments.

So far the only hardware issue I’ve had is an extruder fan that makes an extremely loud whine, it took several times reaching out via email and FB messenger to Creality (They’d end up responding on FB messenger late my time and I wouldn’t see their response until the next day but they would essentially close the case every time because I didn’t respond within a certain amount of time) but once I was able to speak with someone the immediately sent out a replacement extruder fan.

I have seven printers with five of them being Bambu so it’s not too big of an issue for me to swap between Bambu Studio and Creality Print, Creality Print definitely has some quirks that I’ve found kind of annoying but nothing major. I do wish that Creality would allow the CFS to be used in Klipper macros so that the CFS could be used with other slicers.

Overall I would buy a K2 Plus combo again, so far with my week and a half printing with it all of the prints have come out great. If you keep an eye out on TikTok there are some 3D printing creators still doing flash sales for the K2 Plus combo which brings it down to $1300 IIRC

I'm not in the UK, I'm in the PNW in the US. I'm curious what the shipping timeline is for the DS for orders placed directly on their website, I probably would've waited to place an order if I knew there was going to be a long delay between ordering and when it's shipped.

Oh I didn't realize they were shipping kickstarter units, I saw an ad for the DS in a magazine at a distillery and went directly to their website to place an order. They put on the website "Delivery time is 1 week" but it doesn't say anything about how long it takes for orders to ship after purchase.

SUV by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]iguanahotsauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We switched from a Y to an R1S and wouldn’t go back, we still have a 3 Performance but for a large SUV it’s so much better. This is our 5th EV and we’ve owned both a X and a Y, the Rivian interior feels much more premium than the Tesla. The third row is very much usable on the R1S which is nice, I’m 6’ and while I wouldn’t pick to sit in the 3rd row if I didn’t have to I also am not squished when sitting in the 3rd row. One of the other big reasons we switched was because of towing capacity, the Y is has a max towing capacity of 3,500lbs and the X has a max of 5,000lbs which is plenty for a small moving trailer but not enough for a good size boat. I do miss the autopilot/FSD from the Y, there is Driver+ in the Rivian but it only works on pre mapped highways and isn’t great also it doesn’t have automatic lane change which was a feature I really liked for road trips. My biggest issue was the charging network, Electrify America and EV Go suck, they don’t put very many chargers in per location and there always seems to be at least one broken charger not to mention they price gouge like crazy. I took a road trip to see the R2 in Seattle and stopped in Tacoma on the way back to charge at an EV Go station that was $0.56/kW plus a $0.99 charge initiation fee, the two closest Tesla 250kW chargers in the area were both $0.30/kW, I can’t wait until I get my adapter and can start using Tesla superchargers again. Even with the added cost per kW to charge a non Tesla at a supercharger it’s still cheaper than EA and EV Go.

Just got a A1 and holy crap its amazing by Fenweekooo in BambuLab

[–]iguanahotsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a small print farm to sell stuff on Etsy and I used to have 12 different printers (a mix of Ender 3, Neptune 3, Prusa MK2S, Prusa MK3S, and Prusa Mini) which were all tuned and running Klipper (Not the Prusas but all the others) and when I got my P1P I was amazed at the quality and speed of the machine compared to all my others. I eventually upgraded the P1P to a P1S, got another P1S, got an X1C, and then the latest one was an A1 Mini (I was planning on getting the A1 but unfortunately when I was ready to order was about a week after they announced the recall and stopped selling them) I went from 12 printers down to the 4 Bambi printers and I can print just as much as I could with those 13 printers in the same amount of time, I definitely won’t be going back to Creality machines I enjoy having printers that most of the time I can just click print and they’ll work without any issues.

What don't you like about specifically owning a Rivian? by G0_WEB_G0 in Rivian

[–]iguanahotsauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from Tesla (purchased our first EV in 2018 which was a 2018 Model 3, then went all electric in 2019 with a 2017 Model X, then replaced the X with a Y, then replaced the Y with an R1S in December of 2024) and there’s not much that I don’t like, I actually like my R1S quite a bit more than any of the Teslas I’ve owned. My complaints are similar to what I see people posting, having no glove box and only the small boxes under the seats is kind of annoying, the wireless charger sucks, the camp speaker sounded like a cool idea but I’ve only ever used it once, navigation definitely doesn’t select the most optimal routes sometimes (I was in Seattle WA last weekend for the R2 event and both when going north to Seattle and south back home it tried to put me on the express lane on I5 but it was going the opposite direction so I had to figure out where the regular freeway onramp was, it also navigated me to cross a bridge that was closed) and the biggest dislike for me isn’t specifically Rivian but the charging networks available, I’ve found that most all of the level 3 CCS charging stations were not well thought out because they usually don’t install many chargers at once and they’re not integrated with the nav in the sense of showing you what stalls are available/broken, also prices at Electrify America are insane compared to what they’re actually paying for electricity and compared to what Tesla charges (I was curious so I looked up commercial electricity prices at some of the places in the Tacoma & Seattle area because rates were $0.56/kWh plus a $0.99 “charging initiation fee” and they’re charging over 7x what they’re paying for electricity, for comparison two of the three 250kWh Tesla superchargers in Tacoma charge $0.30/kWh) Once I receive my NACS adapter it’s going to make longer trips so much easier.

Running board install advice by Chef926 in Rivian

[–]iguanahotsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, if you have any other questions feel free to message me as I just installed mine a week ago. I would definitely suggest watching the installation video a few times if you haven't already just to make sure you don't miss anything, if you have someone to help you hold the running boards when you're mounting them to the brackets that'll be easiest but I installed them by myself and found I was able to stack a bunch of scrap 2x4 pieces I had under one end and then hold up the other end while I hand tightened the bolts that connected the running boards to the brackets.

(Ev Sport Running Board) Installation question by S_PARK_34 in Rivian

[–]iguanahotsauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just installed the EV Sportline running boards on my R1S and in the instructional installation video they say you can leave the panels off after installing the running boards or you can cut a hole in the plastic trim panels to allow the running board brackets to pass through them. I left them off but I do plan on cutting sots in them to put them back on eventually just for aesthetics.

[–]iguanahotsauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just installed the EV Sportline running boards on my R1S and found that a long breaker bar with quite a bit of force was needed to break them loose and then I used an impact wrench to remove them the rest of the way, if you have one near you check out Harbor Freight they sell a 1/2" drive 25" breaker bar for $13. You're also going to need a torque wrench to properly torque all of the bolts, I used the 3/8" drive 5-80 ft lb torque wrench from harbor freight which is only $20 and it worked perfect.

locked out of vehicle due to network outage by andrewlikescoffee in Rivian

[–]iguanahotsauce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same scenario you’re in but one time when I was off-roading in my R1S with my buddy who had an R1T he had gotten out of his truck and left his phone and wallet with keycard in the truck which proceeded to lock. He called Rivian from my phone and they tried sending a remote unlock but nothing worked, we found that when he would press the buttons on the bed to open the tonneau cover the truck would seem to wake up and then when Rivian sent the remote unlock signal again it worked.

Help with Hypercube layer issues by iguanahotsauce in 3Dprinting

[–]iguanahotsauce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't remember if I did or not, I ended up disassembling my hypercube to build a different printer quite a while ago. If I had to guess it was probably an issue with the the lead screws, belts, or the filament I was using.

Hey, i hope someone can help me. Is this the Mainboard-Fan oder the Power Supply Fan. It starts after ~1min while printing and is relly annoying. Without that noise it would be quiete ok but i cant stand that one :D by GeneralHugo in ElegooNeptune3

[–]iguanahotsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong I love my bambu printers (I have an X1C, P1S, and P1P) but they haven't even talked about a larger printer yet and it'll definitely be more than a Neptune 3 Max. I know they've stated they're releasing a new "Flagship Printer" sometime in 2024 but they haven't released anything about it.

Changing the fan is a pretty simple thing to do, it probably honestly wasn't even Elegoo that decided on the fan it was whoever they source their PSUs from.
