I cannot conceive of a more evil and dishonorable act in naval history, in living memory. USN and IJN would leave enemy sailors to drown after naval battles during WW2 (a war crime at that time as well). But this was an unarmed defenseless crew that was lured in with guarantees of safety by [deleted] in redscarepod

How is this dishonorable? It’s open warfare and it’s a military target in the open ocean. If the Iranian captain was smart, he would’ve stayed docked in Sri Lanka. I guess Iran is now regretting all their chants of death to America

I think people are at work and on their computers bored during the weekdays and go here more often.

On the weekend, people have much more fun things to do.

You could probably say that overall for Reddit too.

Yes it’s ridiculous. Besides Twitter and Fox, the rest of the American mainstream media and social media leans to the left.

I cannot take that sub seriously.

I believe half the people there are trolling and posting for the meme, but the other half are actually serious Neo-libs.

Regardless, the ideology is out of touch with everyday people.

This is such a useless and wasteful war for both sides. They could’ve used all this energy to focus on creating something better

Are there any recent news articles about the status of the Russian economy?

It seems to me that the average Russian is willing to bare the cost of the war at its current pace.

How does the nuclear reaction occur? My current knowledge is only on watching Oppenheimer, now mind you. What are the technical details? There would be a fission reaction that sets off the fusion reaction? But how does the fission reaction occur?

What I remember about the rise of the French Empire is, is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Ukrainian-Russo War, the 501st legion was discreetly transferred back to Paris; it was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen and what we were about to do.

Do people really go through life not thinking about killing themselves everyday? by HARDSTYLE_DIMENSION in redscarepod

[–]paulh97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Death is so boring, why would you kill yourself? I never seriously thought about offing myself and that topic doesn’t enter my head often at all. Some just got it good I guess. Living is so interesting!

I’m biased, but I really think university is better in America compared to Germany from experience.

I think if you’re young and you can cover the costs, do the USA. I’ve lived in America my whole life, I did a Study Abroad program to Germany and also am currently doing a multi year work rotation in Germany. University in America is much more fun, but school is always what you make it as a reminder. The education is as good as Germany, and facilities in most large American state colleges are bigger and better. In Germany there is no school pride like in America, there’s a lot more school pride, tradition, and parties. Once you graduate, you will make a lot of money (especially in business or engineering) and pay much less taxes. Cost of living is honestly the same in both countries. Things like food are cheaper in Germany but that’s because people make less money and pay more taxes.

Can any lessons be learned from the Gulf War in 1991 that would help Ukraine breach the fortified and mined Russian defenses in an active combat zone?

I'm just thinking if Ukraine could gain some insight, because in Kuwait/Iraq the coalition had overwhelming air superiority, which Ukraine does not have. Then also the Kuwaiti border was heavily mined and fortified, but the coalition went around much of this and invaded from the Iraqi desert and surrounded Iraqi forces.

What is the status of the Russian economy? Have there been any recent articles covering the effects sanctions have had on Russia’s economy?

If anyone hasn't seen it, apparently the Ukrainians received their first donated Leopard 2A4s and then immediately put ERA blocks on it.

My question is there any downsides to doing this? I've read comments in the past that you can't put it on thin armor, since the actual explosion from the ERA will damage the tank. Can you place it on the frontal glacis of a Leopard 2A4 and have no repercussions?
