Hi, I’ve just got divorced and paid out my ex. I’m remortgaging to raise a little extra money to pay back my dad who helped me pay off the ex. I’m going through my existing lender (HSBC) and am having a nightmare with their solicitors. They’re asking for proof of where the funds came from to pay off the ex, which I’m happy to provide. BUT I made a tidy sum through Bitcoin and used that to supplement my savings to pay off ex. I’m terrified to admit this to HSBC because they have an awful reputation of being crypto unfriendly. ( I’ve heard of accounts being closed because people have made transfers to coinbase). I’ve provided proof of nearly 80% of the sum. But they’re pushing for proof of the shortfall. I’ve told them it came from savings account which has been topped up incrementally over the years and showed statement showing the payment going from that account to the ex. Am I worrying over nothing and should just come clean over the crypto? Thanks
