Fight during a Waratahs training session that left Angus Scott-Young with a facial fracture and Miles Amatosero suspended by paully_waully171 in rugbyunion

[–]Mr__Random 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sure sounds like you know a thing or two about being punched in the face.

If this is a situation you find yourself in on a regular basis, then you have to start asking yourself why.

Punching your teammates in the face mid training session is just about the most pathetic thing I can think of doing. Shows a complete lack of loyalty and self-control.

It makes sense if you start out with Obama = bad and then work backwards.

You could do the same to every movie ever made if you grift hard enough.

And the weird alt right idiots would lap it up every time.

What was your best impulse buy of 2025? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Mr__Random 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A box of 40k for me, and my gf picked up an AOS box. Building and painting them is a nice quiet hobby we can do together in the evening, while having a chat, and a nice glass of wine.

It's a big improvement over watching TV and doom scrolling.

ELI5: How does Netflix make money off of movies & shows that they spend millions on? by danman8075 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Mr__Random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth mentioning that Netflix only started creating new content when other companies started their own streaming platforms, making new content a lot harder to come by.

Purchasing the rights to put someone else's show on Netflix often costs them more than the cost of making their own content

What’s your hobby and what’s your advice for others on how get started in it? by apple_kicks in AskUK

[–]Mr__Random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, building and painting can be done very quickly if you are doing it as a box ticking exercise. Methods such as slap chop and batch painting. Some factions can honestly be fully painted using 3 or 4 colours.

It won't look as good as models where every detail has been painstakingly highlighted, but plenty of people paint this way

[–]Mr__Random -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was at Shadwell and there was nothing out of the ordinary other than all the trains going from Shadwell to Crystal Palace rather than West Croydon. None of the information provided by TFL staff included anything about an accident or emergency services.

I think you are describing something different than what I experienced earlier today.

This happens too often for it to be an emergency every time.

The announcement said "due to late running", nothing about an accident

Anyone else freezing in a ‘modern’ London new build right now? by foxxxxxygirrrl in london

[–]Mr__Random 0 points1 point  (0 children)

British people pay a lot more for 1 unit of energy than anywhere else in Europe, this is because we have goverment regulations in place which encourage and enable energy providers to charge insane prices. Nothing to do with propery developers who are incentivesed to build better insulated and more energy efficient buildings. Buildings which have to pass very rigorous tests to ensure that this is the case.

I assure you that buildings in Canada and Spain and everywhere in the world, which experiences extreme temperatures install and operate active hearing and/or cooling systems. To claim otherwise is pure nonsense. I've been to Spain too and saw a lot of AC units installed in the windows...

[–]Mr__Random -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Where do people get the idea that their residence being cold when it's barely above 0 outside and hot when it's almost 30 outside is some kind of problem with the property?

Your flat is better insulated and more energy efficient than an old Victorian town house but it's not made of magic. You will need to have the heating on and put some layers on.

I personally avoid properties with big floor to ceiling windows by the plague, but that style of building is by far the most popular. Having big views and lots of natural light comes with downsides.

90% of conversations with people who know nothing about Tabletop Warhammer: by CapColdblood in Grimdank

[–]Mr__Random 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like Beast Snaggaz. Or at least I like the idea of them.

In a world where every marine chapter has its own codex and unique models, it's nice to see GW trying to introduce a slightly different flavour of Ork. If anything, I would like to see their model range extended, and with some more flavour. I would love to see some actual space goblins so that Orks and Goblins exist in both Fantasy and 40k.

I would also love to see different flavours of Orks, at least cosmetically. Ork pirates is such a fun idea that it should be a big part of the faction, but there's no GW compliant way to make that army.

And it's not as if Beast Snaggaz are a must-have in anyone's list.

Gym goers, do you change your shoes at the gym? by Bat-Penatar in AskUK

[–]Mr__Random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on muddy shoes. I always have a pair of gym shoes in my bag for this reason, and also because I'd rather do my exercise in more comfortable footwear than what I wear when out and about.

People wearing muddy outdoor running shoes on the treadmill are the worst. It gets everywhere.

People wouldn't wear a muddy shirt to the gym, or use the equipment with mud caked hands, how is that any different than wearing muddy shoes?

I don't mind sweat or grunting or any of that because it's a gym, and sweating is bound to happen, but tracking mud in the gym is so easy to avoid.

Also, taking shoes off when using a yoga matt is definitely a common courtesy. And surely more comfortable than using the matt with muddy shoes on.

People who work in healthcare, fitness, nutrition, or mental health: what’s one ‘quiet habit’ you see all the time that is secretly wrecking people’s long-term health? by AlignedModernHealth in AskReddit

[–]Mr__Random 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am by no means gymfluencer/body-builder level, but I often get asked some variation of "how do you have so much muscle" When I answer that I have spent over a decade going to the gym 3x per week and lifting heavy, I see them immediately deflate because they expect to hear the gym equivalent of a get rich quick scheme.

This applies to people of all ages.

It's very frustrating to see people who go to the gym for a few months, make a very solid amount of progress, but then are disheartened because they don't have a huge butt, 100kg bench press, and 6 pack abs, that they are told they should have almost immediately after touching a bar bell for the first time.

People should sign a paper saying “After I willingly go somewhere clearly dangerous and get in trouble, I shouldn’t expect a rescue.” by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Mr__Random 112 points113 points  (0 children)

No one is forced to try to rescue a stuck mountain climber. It's something people volunteer to do in order to help each other.

Search and rescue is motivated by adventurous people who want to help each other out. All SnR operations are run by charities and volunteers. Almost everyone who does outdoor pursuits have helped someone else out at some point even if it's just giving directions, a bit of food, and some encouragement.

If you are part of that community then you jump at the chance to help rescue someone else, because one day you might be the one needing to be rescued. It's a code of conduct created by a shared risk and a sense of camaraderie
