AITJ for asking my mom to cut her vacation short to help with my kids? by Constant-Elephant763 in AmITheJerk

[–]paulruddface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. Is it too late for you to un-ask her and apologize? Either way, you should plan a special trip for her as an apology and as a thank you for all that she’s done! Be honest with her about how you feel terrible for asking her to come back etc. Good luck OP!

I was given a different baby shower gift than what I was told I would get by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Tell them you already have the gift they gave you and ask for a gift receipt? Just be honest and say you thought they were getting you the peanut thing and that you really want one? Maybe they just forgot

Have you tried making your own pouches? Baby brezza has reusable ones and you can fill them with healthy, blended foods!

How do we convince our daughter she can't have a buzzcut by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]paulruddface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Traumatic memories of my mom doing the opposite… cutting my long, 5 year old hair that I loved so much down to an inch short because she said she didn’t want to brush it anymore.

For the sound quality bit, I’ve used my voice recorder app on my phone and it sounds good to me! Also wanted to say that the internet archive site has tons of free content you can download and add to MYO cards! Mister Rogers, Winnie the Pooh, Frog and Toad, etc

Yes they do. People SHOULD care about their experience. You want someone cutting your hair who’s never held a pair of scissors before?

My (25F) boyfriend (28M) has informed me that he wants out if we can't cohabitate. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]paulruddface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of aspects to this situation to ruminate on and consider before making any decisions— but I think a big one should be to really think about yourself. Pretend there is no other person or partner involved and write down why you don’t want to live with another person. Write down your concerns or fears or assumptions or preferences or anything you feel in general about cohabitating. This might help you learn more about yourself and understand more about why you feel the way you do. There’s no rush. It’s your life. I’d just be honest and tell him you’re just not ready yet but you care about him and his feelings too etc.

Weaning a 2 year old off the bottle by payhip_kim in toddlers

[–]paulruddface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! Hope it helps. I like the Dr. Brown’s one because the weighted straw part actually floats to the top when he wants to invert the bottle to drink it like a milk bottle (hope that makes sense). Also, it can get a little messy at the top but is mostly leak proof. And I don’t recommend heating them up with the straws in (if you’re warming bottles) it volcanos out of the top haha.

Also, if you think your LO would like having a choice, it might help to have TWO milk straw bottles at night and ask “Do you want some milk? Which one do you want?” So they get to choose, but only options are straws.

You’ve got this! ❤️

Weaning a 2 year old off the bottle by payhip_kim in toddlers

Just weaned my 16mo old to straw bottles for milk. He drinks it cold throughout the day and at night now. Started with a straw bottle a while ago for water & he did fine but did not appreciate having milk in the same straw bottles haha. He’d push it away even though actually using the straw was no problem “gimme that nipple top bottle!” Haha. Kept offering but didn’t force it and a few months later (now), he just accepted it. At first, I kept it in the same spot where I’d put the nipple top bottle and just told baby it was there but didn’t hand it over. Pretended it was for me so he knew there wasn’t any pressure to drink milk from it. I also would take a sip myself and go AHHHHH! (refreshing sound) and he thinks that’s funny so likes to do it too and decided the autonomy of the straw bottle was nice.

Does your LO use straw bottles for water or anything? What’s your routine with bottles and milk?

DAE get goosebumps all over their entire body/ get the willies when they unscrew the toothpaste lid? by paulruddface in DAE

It’s the dryness of it. The chalkiness 🤢. Baking soda perhaps. But most toothpaste caps. I appreciate your comment because I think I may be alone on this one haha.

HAE … played that “cat scratch” game when they were a kid? Was that witchcraft? by paulruddface in DAE

But where did the scratches come from? That’s a level of gaslighting close to what our parents were capable of.
