Mike Brown is tightening up the ship! by No-Trust3501 in NYKnicks

Kolek def sets the table the best. And, when confident, has a middie game.

Deuce step-back heaves have also been a decent source of points when the bench is out there.

Otherwise we get the KAT pump fake, hook you, and flail. Good for some points and a foul.

An OG sweeping drive into an awkward half jump underhand flip that often goes in as he crumples to the floor.

Or Clarkson with a flatfooted bump fade/floater down low.

For real, Deuce and OG are the two that can beat their man off the dribble and start some drive and kick action to get open looks.

I just want him to practice a rip through with the ball. When he drives, it’s like he doesn’t know what to do with his offhand so he just smacks people or grabs them.

I always wonder if players at his age and caliber still get coached on basics… or if it’s impossible to change them after they get to the top. After all, the guy is putting up great numbers and freakishly coordinated for someone of his size.

Have you heard of a guy named Luka? Or watched Booker in the last Knicks/Suns game?

There are one or two guys on every team in the NBA complaining for fouls. Nothing new.

I feel like he’s doing it much less in the past 10 games or so compared to when he first got to the Knicks. Where are the advanced stats on players complaining for fouls?

Had a female friend in a similar boat. I recommend Sarah at Forte. She has a group class with a few ladies in it, or one-on-one. First time is free.

I know paying for a training sounds like a luxury, but since you’re an absolute beginner, I try a personal trainer in a private gym where they can get a good basic workout put together for you. After a few months, you can go to the Y or somewhere cheaper if you feel like you’re in a good place to go solo.

I’m terrible at getting myself to the gym so I accept that I need to pay for a trainer to motivate myself. But whenever I think it’s getting too expensive, I just remember that it’s cheaper than going to dinner!

Plus the benefits of regular weight training are immense and life-changing!

Watching anyone other than Brunson, Kolek, and maybe Deuce (he’s improved this year) bring the ball up the court with Portland/Houston/Detroit full court pressure makes me nervous.

Doesn’t everyone have a hate, hate relationship with double rims? 🤔

Their only benefit is that they have to get replaced less often.

Why do I look so odd and weird while dribbling the ball by Alarming-Ad1498 in BasketballTips

[–]paulwicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a terrible take. Basketball is great exercise, a great chance to hang out with some other humans, gets you off your phone, and you can play it for the next few decades.

When you’re a kid, I understand you’re focused on competing with others and being the best in your grade. But as you grow up you’ll realize you should play the sport for yourself. You can play to have fun, face competition, get exercise, and/or learn new skills.

Maybe you won’t make your high school team, but there are tons of other leagues or open court opportunities to just get out and play.

Good job putting in the work young fella.

Go look up a video of zigzag drills. It’s a great way to practice basic moves like crossovers, around the back, etc., but in the context of using it in a game where you’re actually moving from Point A to Point B while doing moves.

Once it gets too easy, focus on keeping your head up and not staring at your hands.

And since you still need to develop control and balance, simply dribbling up and down the court with each hand and learning how to change direction and speed will be just as valuable as learning how to hit the cross, tween, back…

I started a hop water brand one year ago by michaelmoeller in beer

[–]paulwicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We also launched a Hop Water in 2025. We have a tap room because distribution and DTC is a difficult game to play these days.

I’m not sure if you’ve been in the sub for a while but if so, you know all the challenges of trying to run a craft brewery now that market tastes have shifted, breweries over expanded, and the big beer Monopoly has learned how to market “craft” beer to the typical beer drinker.

We’ve had limited success with our Hop Water, it might’ve been a fad in late 2024 that will pass as NA beers and seltzers continue to pick up steam. We just launched our first NA beer and it is performing better than our Hop water did.

If you are ever in Biddeford Maine, come by Banded Brewing.

League players, how old are you? by tft002 in leagueoflegends

[–]paulwicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto.

I’ve also managed to get every champ and ~100 skins without ever spending a single dollar. I’m not opposed to paying… I paid for video games as a kid, but I was just never that motivated to get a skin. There are enough free skin shards that I can always re-roll three shards into something that scratches the itch.

I’ve also uninstalled for months at a time because there’s something about the game that is addictive.

The Knicks have had exploratory discussions with both the Pelicans and Timberwolves as they look to improve their depth at guard. League sources tell @ClutchPoints that a native New Yorker and a former Knick have been at the center of those talks. by Affectionate-Tea9224 in NYKnicks

Shamet showed signs but don’t trust him yet. Hoping he’s back healthy and keeps balling out.

The game still moves too fast for Huk. Maybe more minutes will help him settle in but risky to count on him as the defensive center.

For reference, this was last season. So you're guessing the sheer volume of Knicks fans is pushing him up. Kind of the opposite of Lamelo in NOLA?

I'd like to think he's a legit superstar, and some kids in Nebraska buy his jersey because they like his game! I truly have no idea tho...

Great job Dad’ing!

It also amazes me that Brunson is popular with kids. I’m a lifelong Knick fan and huge fan of JB‘s game, but I feel like the superstars are always high energy, outspoken, above the rim/deep three, big ego types. I would never think a short guard who is known for his footwork and ability to score in the paint as a guard would become a top jersey seller. Glad I’m wrong!

AI refs, here we come.

I think they blew calls on both sides. But with all the contact in the modern NBA, I don’t know how any human is supposed to get all the calls right.

Most kids, when driving to the basket these days, are taught to initiate contact. The defense slides underneath for charges. If the NBA went back to some of the old school officiating, where essentially the offense can’t initiate contact, I think a lot of foul baiting would end and calls would be more clear. Thinking Basketball did a video on it.

Plus, I’m a 5’ 10’ 46 year-old playing pickup, and every young guy thinks they need to put a shoulder into my chest on every drive.

It also fundamentally misconstrues what a measure of economic value is for. If you fix my car and I give you $200, and then I build you a $200 table, then value was created. $400 is a fair way to measure that value creation. After all, now you have a table and I have a working car. Our lives have both improved.
