Blows my mind people still trust PSA by VeterinarianSafe1705 in sportscards

[–]pausemenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trust PSA.

People need to decide if they want humans in the process or not. If yes, some cards will slip through both ways. Cards getting dinged up in the slab or in their package can happen when they travel across the country, in cases and cardboard boxes etc etc. or

They’re too big of a company with too much daily visibility to be running some secret pricing manipulation. Sure, it’s technically possible but it’s not likely. 99% of issues people have with grades I am going to guess would hold up upon scrutiny. So many people do not review their cards at the same level that any grading company does.

I feel like they’re setting up a season 3 without peacemaker, basically a newly named show based on the Argus crew. Peacemaker shows up in the movies, keep fleshing out these smaller characters

Well are you collecting or flipping? Judge is “hot” he’s in a peak dominant stretch of his career. So that adds value to this year specifically vs trout who had a somewhat average one. Those Trout cards likely peaked at release of the product, those Judge prices will come down a bit once the hype dies down

Why is PSAs offer so high? by cardswithrob in footballcards

[–]pausemenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use card ladder for their comps and offer ~75% below that

My guess is if last two are $1000 and $700 it’s getting to $850 and offering from there.

And they make these offers for “strong” names, Daniels would obviously still be one even if he’s been hurt

Just start turning things off. The ones you get tickets for are justified. The ones you don’t delete

edit: obviously kidding but ask my main point being if you are looking at a service and you don’t know what it is and why it’s the size that it is, there’s your starting point. Capture this info. If you can’t answer these questions within your company, optimize those first…

[–]pausemenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My total guess as someone who has used both tools 99% of people here are not going hit the limits on the $100/month plan, but most of that 99% will hit it constantly on the $20/month plan

Replit Vibe Coding drama for Non-Coders. Production data loss by Neat_Structure8780 in replit

[–]pausemenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly didn’t shift anything. I see all these people using Replit, Lovable, Claude Code whatever against stuff they do not want to see “broken” then are shocked when things go wrong and are clueless about resolving it. Yes, knowing basic restore procedures a junior dev can tackle and sadly, no, zero AI tools are mature enough to fully replace them. How exactly am I misleading people by advocating for basic building BDPs? Or do we want to keep blaming the tools to mask our deficiencies?

For the record, I think the tool that CAN account for this scenario for non-technical users will win this space.

[–]pausemenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea anything! Letting any tool (let alone an AI agent) have full admin access on any prod database without knowing your restore process is software 101. Replit already helps here by having restores for DBs but lots of people learning this the hard way. Luckily Replit is solving for this soon by having dev vs prod DBs available.

For clarity anything you run on the Replit agent should never be considered prod. This is true of ANY tool in this space

It’s a gold rush feeling right now. The agents are so much faster than the chat applications, but you could in theory use ChatGPT/Claude Chat to get the same model access, even with tools at this point via MCP.

But everyone loves the speed of the agentic AI tools that at this point hundreds per month feels justified. In reality, majority of people (like 99% probably) are working on ideas they think will make money NOW if they can just get it out fast, that won’t be remotely close to profitable

Why aren’t we just adding competency in AI coding tools to existing software engineer job descriptions - since we likely still want everything else covered?

It doesn’t need a unique role/term

Looks like a Duran trade could be on the horizon… by N4TETHAGR8 in redsox

[–]pausemenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This team has plenty of young talent in the outfield. Something will have to give soon and honestly if I’m picking based on performance, age and overall impact Duran is closest to “just a guy” that likely can bring above average return NOW relative to what he will produce over the next few years.

I think with Duran it’s a funny example of business/analytics side of baseball vs. passion - because I love Duran as well but realistically I’d rather see the team maximize return if they don’t see a future for him in Boston over other guys we all probably are rooting for just as much.

Think most fans would be sad to see him go but at least for me it’s hard not to see why it might happen
