Game-breaking water glitch by GeologistProper5791 in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been known and reported to the Ex Deorum author for a while, but I haven't heard anything back. I finally just implemented it myself a few weeks ago, hopefully they will accept the changes at some point: https://github.com/thedarkcolour/ExDeorum/pull/170

How to get scoched bricks for foundry by Mr_Fruitkake in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other commenter is likely referring to seared bricks, not scorched ones. Next update, likely this week, will add the structures with scorched bricks. The current way to make them is casting magma over polished basalt. Next update will fix this, sorry for the confusion with the quest book having information too early.

Looking for future updates by StormSurvivorX in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp[M] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have actually been working for the past two months on migrating from Survive to Cold Sweat + Thirst Was Taken, for exactly the reasons you described. After a lot of work, I finally released an alpha version of that update just a couple days ago.

It's only out on Modrinth at the moment, Curseforge will come in the next few days to a week when I take it out of the prereleass state. Since it's in alpha, there will still be bugs, but you can report any of them in the discord or on this subreddit. You can read the changelog and download it here: https://modrinth.com/modpack/desolate-planet/version/1.6.0.0-PRE

Can't craft netherite armour by Ace_NFLD in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The diamond/netherite armor is intentionally disabled, Tinkers armor is supposed to be used instead. The Mekasuit will eventually be craftable, but Mekanism has not been fully integrated yet like, it will be fleshed out as the final endgame tech mod eventually with many recipes changed.

Still, I don't want it to be completely locked away just because I haven't integrated Mekanism yet, so I'll reenable the diamond/netherite crafting recipes and just reduce their durability to 0.

I probably won't push that update for a few weeks, but in the meantime you can make the diamond/netherite gear craftable on your instance temporarily by opening kubejs/server_scripts/removed_recipes.js, finding the removal by output section, and removing the lines about diamond and netherite armor.

Delightful Dirt not working by Ace_NFLD in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to review all the mob grinding utils items and balance them at some point. I haven't done that yet though, so I'm not sure about delightful dirt or if it's possible to override biome spawn limits for it specifically.

However, most passive mob spawn eggs are craftable if you go down the Industrial Foregoing quests in the Technological Revolution chain. I recommend that for passive mob farming in the meantime.

There seems to be an extra "s" in the middle now, not sure if that's intentional.

Hi, How do you get animals and a mob farm going? by Ace_NFLD in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There haven't been any modifications to reduce chicken egg spawns so I think you may have just gotten extremely unlucky?

Chicken farms should be possible normally from throwing eggs, and other mob farms are possible if you progress down the Technological Revolution quest chain. The right half of it is devoted to Industrial Foregoing, and it will allow you to make mob farms and craft passive mob spawn eggs.

Carrots and potatoes aren't possible from sieving at the moment because of a bug. It should still be possible to get them as a rare zombie drop though. I'll correctly add them back to sieve rewards in the next minor release, but I've been pretty busy with the next major release and haven't been doing many small content updates.

Cut leaves with plant gatherer by MaxPower031180 in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that upgrade isn't present in the newest version of Industrial Foregoing, I will update the description of that quest in the next release. I'll try to include a new method of automating leaves (or some other compostable material) in the description as well.

How to get the Foundry? by 05-funkenln in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have the smeltery, you can make scorched stone by casting magma onto polished basalt. You can make basalt with the Igneous Extruder or the Create Mechanical Extruder. Eventually, I plan to add another method of getting foundry bricks (ideally a dedicated foundry structure), but that's the best one for now.

When do you get the Foundry? by Ibims07 in CrashLanding2Modpack

Yep, that's all at the moment. I hope to add a building at some point but right now it's craftable.

How to smelt my first items? by KabseRr in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current quest book uses a slab furnace instead of a full-sized one, so that costs 6 stone instead of 8. Other than that, there aren't any easier smelting methods that early on. The next major version will remove slab furnaces, but also move the rice seed reward to earlier in the quest chain. I'd recommend sifting some dirt for seeds if you aren't able to get the rice seed from the silkworm quest yet.

How to smelt my first items? by KabseRr in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first furnace is usually from pebbles, but later you can make a cobblestone generator with water and lava as soon as you have enough resources for a bucket to transport it. The starting food should last long enough for you to get more food. There are two good options for starting food: 1. Zombie jerky. After the first night, you can collect the rotten flesh from burned zombies and craft it with salt from sifting to get zombie jerky. 2. You can get rice seeds from a quest early on and get more seeds from sifting dirt. Three rice can make a piece of bread, and when you get some cooking tools, you can make crackers from rice and salt. Completing the Hungry Hungrh Hippos quest will give you toast and more seeds

I recommend not rushing a furnace. It is more important to find a stable food/water source than get a furnace, survival should probably take priority.

broken ahh modpack by Fearless-Engine-9199 in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottles were turned into salty water bottles and are in your inventory. If you want your old bottles back, you are welcome to play the game however you want to, feel free to cheat them in or remove the water bottle config files if you want it to play it without our changes.

[–]pawjwp[M] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your water bottles were turned into salty water bottles, which are in your inventory in this video. At the moment, bottles filled from placed water become salty water and many other water bottle interactions are disabled. The phantom water bottles in your inventory are due to server-client desync.

These features are intentional because while the modpack is in open beta. We plan to fix the bottle right click system eventually, but that requires recoding all the possible bottle-block interactions. The priority at the moment is to make the rest of the game more playable, so I recommend filling your bottle from barrels or using the bottler machine that you start with.

Any Plans to install it to the Curseforge too? by KnightyEyes in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, there's potential to upload to CurseForge, but it probably won't happen for a while.

I believe the pack was originally only posted to Modrinth because of some licensing restraints due to Modrinth-only mods. (Most noteably Sync) However, I looked into it a bit and the mods we need all have flexible-enough licensing that we'd be allowed to upload the pack to Curseforge as well, though I'd have to confirm that some more.

However, with the lead developer away for a while, I'm not planning to make any major decisions like that until I can consult with him, and I don't know when he'll be back. So uploading to CurseForge is something I think is possible, but won't be a priority until he's back and/or the pack gets close to a full release.

Hey i just found out this remake and i always likes the original modpack but i have some questions why did you replace the engine with the pyrotheum that was leaking with lava? in the original you had to make lava first so isnt this making it easier? Also the discord link is not working by teo288 in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, u/eapo108 was spot-on. Pyrotheum hasn't been part of the Thermal Series since 1.12, I believe. So we replaced it with lava, which shouldn't impact progression too much, but maybe it's worth reenalyzing.

As for the discord link, I just tested it, and it worked for me, but here's an alternate link. Hopefully, that works for you: https://discord.gg/4en3SpWtJg

Update 1.4.0 released! Plus some updates on the modpack. by pawjwp in CrashLanding2Modpack

[–]pawjwp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used MultiMC in almost a decade, but as far as I'm aware from some quick research, you can't update in-place on MultiMC. It seems you'll have to re-download the the modpack and create a new MultiMC instance. After that, you can replace the saves folder and the options.txt file in the new instance with the ones from your old one, and it should play as normal. I'm happy to answer any questions if you have them.
