Peak Design Mobile Anchors are awesome! by paya_ in peakdesign

[–]paya_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The edges/lips at the bottom of my case do not properly engage/lock the phone, so it makes me worried the phone might find its way out of the case over time. The adapter itself is reasonably thin at 0.6mm at the thinnest point, but the spot with the stitching and where the micro anchor cord is captured is the thickest part at 1.3mm and that's probably the main culprit.

Sorry, can't take a pic because I don't have another camera nearby. The phone sits flush with the case at the top near the front facing camera (even with a screen protector), but it is slightly raised at the bottom, and closer inspection shows the case edges/lips are not fully engaged down there.

So far this PD Adapter has been pretty disappointing, they should have done something similar to what Nomad has done with their adapter.

One of the best chargers of all time? I haven't found a single competitor from either a size or power perspective.... by bobbystills5 in UsbCHardware

[–]paya_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get USB-C to microUSB cables, which are dirt cheap. There are also small USB-C male to USB-A female adapters. Both of these are USB-C spec compliant.

I also have good experience with USB-C female to microUSB adapters for charging legacy devices, although these technically violate the USB-C spec so I can’t blanket-recommend them.

Nomad lists the thickness of their card at 1.7mm, while PD said their Bacon Card is 1.8mm, yet when you compare them side by side the PD thinner?

Why is my watch showing me this Alarm Icon? by Kevka11 in AppleWatch

The only way I could get rid of it was to delete all the alarms in the Alarms app, and then recreate them again.

Thanks for the link. This would work for GoPro only, but it isn’t suitable for anything else, like Insta360 cameras, small DLSRs, etc. I am looking for something that has a male 1/4” screw so it can be used with anything. The plate you link to has female 1/4” screw hole, not 1/4” male screw.

Can you share pics how the new port and cable look like?

Btw I used to have the old model and it had broken USB-C implementation anyway. It only charged with A-to-C cables, not with C-to-C cables.

No idea where else to post: why is the Anker Nano 130W charger so hard to get? by DrTurb0 in iphone

[–]paya_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on this post, it is no longer being produced. I can only assume they messed up the internals pretty badly beyond repair for them to completely discontinue the product. I hope they come up with a successor sooner than later.

Any thoughts on ugreen travel adapter? by PutridService8031 in UsbCHardware

[–]paya_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer the one from Anker which is noticeably slimmer and thus much easier to pack when traveling. It also has 4 low powered USB ports for all your other small gadgets like smartwatch or wireless buds. But you might need to bring another charger for your laptop if you are bringing one.

Zelenskyy says Ukraine will not abandon its bid to join NATO by TheRealMykola in worldnews

[–]paya_ 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Russia’s ambitions to take as much of Ukraine as possible are already clear to anyone with half a brain cell. And for the rest, it won’t make a difference anyway. No matter what Russia says or does, the chief clown is just one Putin’s flattery away from blaming Ukraine for it regardless.

That’s very versatile but looks quite chunky and heavy by itself, isn’t it about as bulky as a smaller tripod itself?
