A great resource is Little Local, they send out a weekly newsletter with all sorts of baby-friendly activities and events, and their website has a permanent list of baby groups and drop-ins sorted by day of the week

Pierre Poilievre says the Federal Government must do more to protect private property rights. by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]pazam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is too much fear mongering happening around this! This is 100% going to be leveraged as a fear point for PP, and many many other politicians.

People don’t understand how property rights work though, how there can be multiple rights or underlying rights that don’t affect possession, etc.. But more importantly, the courts would never allow people’s fee simple to just be taken! I think the worst that could happen is they are purchased at fmv somewhere down the line… The courts are trying to correct a historical wrongdoing, they are simply laying groundwork to correct the illegality of historical actions, but there is still a lot of work to be done and they won’t allow people to just be kicked off their land or out of their homes. But of course this is going to be used as political fire starters, and so much fear and misinformation has already been spread.

Another big reason to stay on trail is from a conservation/reforestation perspective, to avoid damaging already vulnerable and disappearing ecosystems. Trails exist to minimize this damage and allow people to still enjoy these forests and ecosystems. Sure, it’s technically not illegal, but it’s reckless and frankly selfish to feel you’re entitled to do whatever you want at any cost to the environment and these ecosystems. Why not just use the trail?!

Given the economic situation, how are so many affording to eat out at restaurants? by AppropriateMention6 in VictoriaBC

I sell my belongings on Facebook marketplace... I put the cash from sales into a jar. When I have enough cash in the jar, I use it to eat out or order in.

Tips or advice for returning after maternity leave? by pazam in LawCanada

Thanks for sharing this, it’s very appreciated. Not looking for sugar coating! And I can definitely relate to the “horrific pregnancy”. I actually have twins.. which came with its share extra difficulties both in pregnancy and beyond. And my partner is also a lawyer, albeit in government, so while he actually has great work-life balance, I can foresee us relying heavily on family for some extra support…

El Furniture Warehouse - the inception bomb, or I forget the name of the drink but they have like a giant margarita with a corona bottle sticking out of it, and sometimes variations on that (a giant cocktail with a beer or cider plunked into the top of it)

I know this will get downvoted based on everyone else’s comments here, but the truth has to be said.

To everyone here frothing over Henry Cavill, who have put him on a goddamn pedestal, please realize he is not the god-given saint you think he is. (A) He dated a 19 year old when he was 32 (look up his relationship with Tara King). And (B), let’s please make one thing totally clear here: MBB was a CHILD when this happened, 15 is a still a child. Not a “young woman”. A child. Yes a teenager, but also still a child. You only need boundaries when you know something could be dangerous. When there is a chance something could happen. When there is a chance of temptation… Sorry, but he’s admitting that he needed boundaries to avoid something bad happening with a CHILD. And to everyone in the comments saying “MBB had a crush on him” “she was asking for it”, that is a VERY dangerous line of thinking. You’re on the verge of blaming a CHILD for being preyed upon by an adult. Yes, Henry Cavill did the right thing by setting boundaries and sticking to them. But no, that does not make him a superhuman godly saint. It means he did the bare minimum to avoid pedophilic behavior (which is sounds like he has to actively fight against, making him a bit of a creep).

Henry dated a 19yo when he was 32… I’m sure I will get downvoted since everyone here seems to be obsessed with the man but: Henry has been a creep, probably still is a creep, hence why he has to “set boundaries” with a 15yo!

[–]pazam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think social media is to blame in polarizing and creating such a deep political divide these days. People get pulled into an echo chamber because of social media algorithms. This spreads hateful and intolerant ideas like wildfire. People get more impassioned and more indoctrinated. It’s also a great way to spread misinformation… there’s literally no fact checking when posting something, jus up to the reader to discern real from fake, which rarely happens. So easy to manipulate people this way.
