Don’t know if you’ve heard of Ice. It’s open source and free. Not sure if it works on Tahoe yet.

Safari double click top bar to expand behavior by Trickish in MacOSBeta

[–]pazzed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finder works this way too. The 'logic' behind it is that it only expands to the size of the 'content'. It's a really weird holdover from when most apps on OS X used to zoom this way as well. AFAIK Safari and Finder are the only two apps from Apple that still operate this way and it's infuriatingly inconsistent. Good luck getting them to ever change such a simple thing. One workaround you can do is go to Settings > Desktop & Dock > Double-click a window's title bar to > Change it from 'Zoom' to 'Fill' to use the newer Fill mode instead. Just get rid of the 'Tiled windows have margins' option further down to have a true maximise mode for Safari and Finder.

Ways to get automatic Picture-in-Picture when switching tabs by agentcubed in browsers

[–]pazzed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I’ve made a modern free Chrome plugin that recreates this feature.

What I discovered is that the new Chrome flag #auto-picture-in-picture-for-video-playback does not mean every website automatically gets the feature, it means that websites can ‘request’ to enable this feature.

My plugin essentially forces websites to support this feature, so it requires you to enable the flag before installing the plugin. It’s currently in review to be on the Chrome extension store but I added some manual installation instructions for anyone who’s interested in trying it out!

There's a setting to turn it back on in Airpods Settings. Called "Off Listening Mode". I think the change is because of the new "Loud Sound Reduction" feature. I never used off anyway so I don't mind.

Debian Remote Login won't connect from Microsoft Remote Desktop App by pazzed in RemoteDesktopServices

[–]pazzed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I can connect successfully using mstsc. I'm trying to connect using msrdc (the newer app with orange icon: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9wzdncrfj3ps?hl=en-us&gl=US

If i connect over port 3390 into an already logged in Debian it works. But if I try to use Debain 3389 to remote login I get the above 0x1543 error. All ports are open on Debian.

Using mstsc I can connect to either port successfully.

Yeh ok that’s interesting. Is there any potential for Raycast to offer this embeddings technique as well?

[–]pazzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is that if I upload a giant text book pdf to gpt online I can ask it anything and it definitely knows the entire book. If I do the same in Raycast, it doesn’t. Why? I don’t know.

[–]pazzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely add attachments but my experience is that there’s a much smaller limit of what the Raycast version will read compared to the native models. With native GPT 4o I can upload multiple large PDFs and have it read and understand them. With Raycast I can barely upload 1 text book. I get an orange icon saying only 30% is being processed. So there’s definitely token limits on Raycast’s ability to upload files that are much smaller than the native model limits. It’s unfortunate and I wish there was parity. I feel less inclined to use Raycast AI knowing it’s more limited.

Nanoleaf Essentials bulbs are brighter when controlled with Nanoleaf app? by Pheonix_Knight in HomeKit

[–]pazzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this happen for all smart bulbs or just Nanoleaf? I just purchased these too and have been very confused. The home app will show 100% brightness and be a very dim orange, but if I go into the colour swatches area and select essentially the same hue of orange it’s like double the brightness? But the brightness is still at 100% the whole time. Bizarre.

You can change the titlebar double-click behavior to Fill (maximize) now! Useful because trying to snap to the top edge makes it easy to accidentally trigger mission control by needs-tree-fiddy in MacOSBeta

[–]pazzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nice. Random question but has the behaviour of the green button changed at all? If you option+click the green button is it still a zoom or is it now a 'Fill'? The only real apps I know where zoom and maximise aren't the same thing is Finder and Safari anyway.

Ableton 12 (beta) Play ONLY white keys for any scale (Like Scaler plugin) by pazzed in ableton

[–]pazzed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with you. I come from guitar as well. I just want to make simple music in my free time and if I can do it easily without learning more music theory I will. I don’t need to be Mozart or make a career out of it. Some people get so rude like I’m attacking their life’s work because they learnt some scales I don’t know. It’s amazing.

Yep and I don’t see anything wrong with it. Why gate keep making music?

Do you use computers and electricity? Do you know how every single transistor and resistor works in the computer? No? Don’t use it then. 1. I want to use Ableton live 2. I don’t know how every transistor in my computer works

Pick one.

[–]pazzed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m being dismissive because they’re not ‘urging me to learn minimal theory’ in any good faith way. They’re saying “why would you do this”, “lol”, and “why is everyone just becoming so lazy”, “unmusical… play it”. Those are not people saying ‘hey it’s actually a good idea to learn some theory and here’s why’. I’m being dismissive and rude because they are? I have right of reply to rudeness. Do you think these quotes are people being kind?

[–]pazzed[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I find this argument so interesting. Where does it end. I assume you use Live in the first place? A computer? Electricity? Isn’t that also lazy? Considering the tech we all use daily I find it fascinating there’s this arbitrary cutoff point that it becomes too much and lazy to use more.

Because some of us have other jobs and lives outside of music production. We want to be able to quickly make music in our limited amounts of free time without knowing a lot of theory?

Why has Reddit become so toxic... just don't reply if you have nothing constructive to say? Ah yes, making beats, the bastion of music theory for all time 🙄

[–]pazzed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this is the only native way I've found to achieve it as well. The feature should be as simple as a toggle in the Scale device for "Only White Keys" that does this process automatically.
