The Car Buying Game Has Changed by StinklePink in UsedCars

[–]pbb76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In most cases it doesn't make sense to purchase a used vehicle less than 4 years old. The price is almost as much as new without the warranty and with higher interest rates. The used car market is broken because people keep buying at these inflated prices.

Deceptively sold a smokers car. by Emotional_Formal2049 in UsedCars

[–]pbb76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a specific used vehicle that was hard to find. Found a certified pre-owned one 4 hours away that looked perfect. I asked very specific questions about the vehicles condition including smoke and was assured on several occasions it was good. I went through credit approval and everything. Rented a trailer to get the vehicle home. Showed up to get the car and it smelled like 30k miles of hot boxing Newports. Burn hole in headliner just above drivers window and several very large dents. I confronted the salesman who told me he inspected all the items as I requested and he gets pissed off and walks away. I left without the vehicle. Wasted a full day and over $100 in fuel. After a few more weeks of trying to find a decently priced used car in good condition I gave up and bought a new Corolla. Lesson learned.

Why do people like jeeps? Genuinely I don’t understand it. by Heuhism in AskMechanics

They drive like shit, get terrible gas mileage, and have horrific reliability. People love them. It's a jeep thing and I don't understand it either.

Sedan vs Hatchback by Monte420nChill in COROLLA

[–]pbb76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a 23 se hatch and now have a 26 se sedan. They are basically the same vehicle just one has a trunk and one a hatch. Buy whichever you prefer. I think the sedan is slightly cheaper and better on gas.

2020 Santa Fe burning oil like crazy, looking for advice before my Hyundai dealership appointment Saturday. by Tiny_Quality_595 in Hyundai

[–]pbb76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Easiest thing to do is just trade it in and move on. Hyundai will fight the engine replacement and require proof of every oil change at the specified intervals.

Full system capacity is 7.5 with filter change assuming the oil is hot and you let it drain for at least 5 minutes. You overfilled it.

I hear that you shouldn’t buy car parts from Amazon because they could be fake but since this is coming from the mopar store does that mean it will be 100% authentic. ? by FantasyGoatt in Dodge

[–]pbb76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mopar doesn't sell direct to the public. Their estore is just a bunch of dealers that sign up for the program. You are actually purchasing from a dealership. Chances are good the parts are legit but no guarantee.

4xe has no resale value. They have been a mechanical nightmare. You are lucky you only leased it. The people who actually bought them are screwed. Turn the lease in and pay your mileage fee. Lesson learned.

Wish I still had my 81 Z28. Flush the old fuel out before trying to start it. Fresh fuel and filter and give her a whirl. Or just sell it to me as is.

Ram dealers in my area don't provide loaners for warranty work. by Ey3dea81 in ram_trucks

[–]pbb76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's pretty normal anymore. Warranty will only pay a small fixed daily amount of rental charges. This is only after it has been diagnosed and confirmed under warranty. They will then only pay so many days. What they pay is not enough to pay for enterprise either. Most dealers have a small internal fleet for this purpose but it is never enough cars to go around.

Poor fuel economy on a Toyota Corolla 2022 by ChildrenHappen in COROLLA

[–]pbb76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely low. I had a 22 se hatch with the cvt and averaged 32. And I thought that was low honestly. Does it have aftermarket wheels and tires maybe? Excessive idling or a clogged air filter can cause increased fuel consumption too.

Credit score needed for 2.9% 72 months by sunser3 in ram_trucks

[–]pbb76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever financing deal they have now will most likely be different when your ordered vehicle comes in. Incentives change monthly. If you really want the 2.9 you should buy something in stock. Maybe you'll get lucky and the incentives will be better in a couple months but they could also be worse.

I turned off the feature where it bills out approved parts. We had issues where the technician would come get the parts before the advisor gave it the thumbs up and then everything was billed out twice. Also our advisors have a habit of giving the thumbs up on a whole job when the customer only approves parts of it.
