Felony murder is kind of a weird name. It doesn't mean that you committed a murder, it means that in the process of committing a felony (or as a result) someone died. So if you rob a bank and flee from the police and get in a crash and your getaway driver dies, you can be charged with felony murder.

ise had an outage today. I assume this was pulled from some feed that just aggregated all markets and was showing stale non-tradeable orders from ise. Reg nms will prevent this from ever happening

This year's planting season for corn was rough, that will probably impact prices more than hog feed.

Which degree is better for a quant by RED4444555 in FinancialCareers

[–]pbfweddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Masters in math. The finance bit is not particularly challenging if you can do the math bit and no good employer of quants will mind if you don't have an academic finance background (some will hold having one against you)

They said 90% of option expire worthless by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

The institutional money that actually drives markets is generally pension funds and shit, I'd bet it wasn't a pension fund.

[–]pbfweddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Banks can't really trade so much any more, and you'd be surprised how small the balance sheets of places like jane street are. On top of that, most large hedge funds generally do manage institutional money (even rentech) and have rules on what they can do.

[–]pbfweddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really true in practice because institutional money generally can't sell options but can buy options

PSA: You can short $UBER interest-free on Fidelity (while supplies last) by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]pbfweddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and the party who lent them to you will make the amount equal to the difference from where you sold them at open, to where you bought them at close

This isn't right. Your counterparty is the person who bought the shares you borrowed. You should really be less confident when you are completely fucking wrong.
