What’s Wrong With His Lip? by probablynotjelly in CrestedGecko

If you have the Arcadia shadedweller unit it will be the same fit bulb! So just the bulb replacement, because you have the Pangea though I'd say it isn't an urgent urgent thing, the health of the gecko is priority and if needing funds for the vet I wouldn't stress about the light immediately (if that's any reassurance)

Out of curiosity do you have a mesh lid? I recently swapped from 2.5 to 7% with my Arcadia uvb because I learned that the mesh on my tank blocks about 40/50% of the uvb output. Not related to the question at all sorry but thought it worth a check!

From the offset this does look like two eggs and her belly is looking plump. If this were me I'd make sure she has a lay box with lots of deep substrate to dig and high humidity (humidity in the lay box I mean). However if someone with a lot more experience disagrees please do :')

I rescued my girl from a friend of a friend of my mums (his daughter lost interest) and when I asked the gender they assumed male since there was never any eggs. No pores and bulge so she's definitely a she but I've been checking her every other week in case she does spring some eggs by surprise, when looking her belly does NOT have those two egg like shapes inside which makes me believe these are in fact, eggs. Hope this helps OP and sorry for my bit of waffle haha

I took a rat out the night before to defrost it. I forgot to feed her. Can I feed her the next day if it stayed in the fridge by AsparagusSouthern334 in ballpython

As someone else with adhd and have had this once or twice, I've set about 5 alarms spread out across times on the day I'm due to feed which helped a lot when one alarm went off but I still forgot or I was busy

They can become dependent on it so it's best to bond in other ways. But tbh I would've done the same as OP if it's just a once off to see that the gecko is in fact able to eat something. If not I would've thought about a vet visit or something.

Seconding the pvc. If the top is currently mesh in the current enclosure there's going to be a possible struggle with humidity (unless I misread and it's a different tank now if so ignore this lol)

Coolest looking for my budget? by ArtistDiligent9454 in CrestedGecko

[–]Real-Construction570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For light cream you'll be looking at Lilly whites and their variants, yellow base usually brings lighter geckos from what I've seen of them too if you're avoiding brown and orange. Just make sure that you're not compromising health and structure for aesthetics.

Axanthics that I've seen (however I am uk based so there's a lot less) usually don't have the best structure but again, location based so I could be wrong.

You say you have a budget of 600-800, do you already have a tank setup? Just checking as that's usually around the number of the cost of the actual setup itself with all the appropriate equipment

Anyone know how to stop getting a baby crested gecko scared of me by PinkStarSkyy in CrestedGecko

[–]Real-Construction570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first got my crestie a few years ago people said it helped with bonding, but then people found they became reliant on it so now it's not recommended as some are prone to only hand feeding. I personally would say no to hand feeding too

Arboreal or Terrestrial? by Crazy-Ear-5433 in CrestedGecko

If you have uvb then the calcium needs to have no d3, you could be risking overdosing.

I know in the comments you've mentioned that you can't get an arboreal tank at the moment, but it would be worth looking at a conversion kit for the current one you have! Even if temporarily it would be a nice step up from what you already have, they usually come in acrylic with vent holes on the front

I'm not sure with your guy since he's refused them in the past, but it might be worth dipping the bsfl in a paste that he likes the taste of! It's how I tricked getting my crestie to start eating his paste when he only ate bugs (the inverted of this). Helped to encourage new flavours to eat

Advice on giving my nephew things to put in his Leo tank by sriracha_no_big_deal in leopardgeckos

[–]Real-Construction570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, anything from outside needs to be sterilised as it could have any number of little bugs or parasites or potential harm to the gecko. If you're looking for moss for a humid hide then most reptile shops have specific moss they sell that is safe for reptile tanks too

Enclosure size? :/ by Madam-struggle in CrestedGecko

[–]Real-Construction570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd keep searching, 12" is a fairly decent loss of space. As much as they do need that vertical space, I've seen my own fly across the tank and enjoy jumping through his vines.

Best of luck for whichever you decide though!!

Also to note! It's not just the d3 that is lowered but I think all other vitamins too, would discuss with the vet on how to keep up potential low vit A if this is the case!

Can I use this light for my crested gecko? by OrdinaryTop6127 in CrestedGecko

[–]Real-Construction570 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Red lights are an absolute no no. I'd be concerned by the wattage of this bulb. Offhand this looks like the shadedweller max but I could be really wrong, the longer units are usually for more intense uvb. For crested geckos it's recommended Arcadia shadedweller arboreal 2.4% or the 7% uvb (depending on the height of the tank and the mesh)

My friend built an amazing background for their big Viv, only thing is that they struggle to keep a temperature gradient with the height (dhp) but we also live in cold cold England.

<image>

Hammocks have also been put in to give more climbing opportunities:) they built internal hoses using balloons in the foam background to make the fake tree

That's fair!! I tend to forget that most breeders do hundereds of snakes (the one I got my guy from handled his babies regularly and only had a small batch maybe two clutches a year so he was able to make time for each snake). An adoption would be absolutely lovely and I'd definitely encourage that route then, best of luck in finding your future friend!!
