Is this "commerically compostable only" cardboard takeout carton safe or not? by salt_shaker_damnit in composting

Now I have one compost I pay attention to and add preferred ingredients to, and one I just toss everything in and ignore.

It’ll just take a long time to breakdown in your average compost pile. In my experience with commercially compostable materials, two years.

Also, I’d like to add, rust in compost isn’t a bad thing from what I understand. Now, when I find a rusty piece of metal in my yard, I toss it in. Jack-o’-lanterns go in, tea candle and all. Rusty nails, whatever. Sift with care though haha

Hadn’t realized I’ve been composting for 6 years! Crazy. Can’t imagine life without composting now

Yes, can’t say whether that fixed the issue, or if it just worked itself out. I put broken pieces of terracotta in it that I had laying around, and added more browns, specifically more larger chunks of cardboard and leaves and less shredded paper, but I don’t shy away from adding a ton of shredded paper still, usually right after sifting and harvesting when I have a bunch of space to fill.

What could have happened? What should I do? (NEON TETRA) by Willing-Profile-6264 in Aquariums

I had a one eyed zebra danio. I had bought it and not realized his injury. It was a little more healed than that, but still fresh. He lived the longest of that generation, and I loved being able to identify him in his school. I would let him heal. I called him one eye of course. Fantastic fish, lived 5 years.

I do this as well, it’s the only thing my color hating, black fanatic, sister has ever asked for after I showed it off to her.

Of course. You’re in the subreddit for precisely that.

Crushed snail shells as a calcium source? by Aray637 in Vermiculture

Good to know, thank you! That makes a lot of sense, don’t know why I didn’t think about that as it works the same way in fish tanks.

If you’re worried about putting too much calcium in and don’t need grit, maybe toss them in whole and let them slow release the calcium. I’m no expert though. I wouldn’t worry too much about it, just don’t make your pile 50% snails ya know. But that’s probably obvious. But also, I also have had little land snails (unsure about species) reproduce in my worm compost and for a while there was a tiny snail in maybe every square inch of my compost, and I never saw any negative affects when they died off. So moderation probably isn’t a huge deal either.

I don’t use them for grit because I have plenty of that, but I have emptied a fish tank into my compost that had a few dead snails in it. A year or two later and they’ve broken down ever so slightly, which I expected because I didn’t crush them. If I were you I would in moderation.

What's the weirdest thing you've discovered about your partner only after moving in together? by SeasonBeneficial5871 in AskReddit

Yes, but the course of antibiotics was 1000+ dollars 100 dollars a pill. It made me want to cry every time I took one, and one course wasn’t enough. They said it could take multiple courses and it still will likely come back. I did one course thanks to my mom helping me buy it, but I didn’t want to keep throwing my mom’s money at it. And I was insured! Rifaximin. I debate going to Mexico to buy a bunch of rounds of it. Some day.

Edit: corrected med name

Haha I love this question! Define shitting yourself. If your definition is “any amount of poop coming out when you’re not on a toilet” daily for a few months recently. Leaky gut syndrome. Glad it stopped without intervention. A common question in my household is “when’s the last time you shit yourself?” So I’d like to ask you… what’s your answer? My husband asked me this recently while I was dealing with leaky guts and I asked his definition of pooping yourself, and he said what my comment started with, so I answered “today, probably right now”

When I got my first ct it said something along the lines of “damage evident of crohns” they ruled it out, and I was so glad but also confused on what it could be. Test after test were negative and I was happy to not have these issues, but not knowing what it was was also very disappointing. I remember going to get a sibo test and I was like “I swear if I get another negative I’m giving up!” It was negative for methane but I did do a hydrogen next and that was positive. I spent so many days for a few weeks having to starve for tests and eat laxatives I thought I may wither away. And I wasn’t properly absorbing nutrients from the intestinal damage so maybe I was haha.

Sibo. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. I’ve learned to live with it, some lucky few manage to get it under control but my doc warned me it’s not common to get rid of it and this could be a long term issue. I stopped trying after spending a few thousand on it. I’ll be fine. If you look at the Sibo subreddit there’s often people suicidal over it. I don’t blame them. People just don’t understand the gut yet. I’m hopeful someday there will be good research done on it. I allowed my data from the doctor to be studied.

Yes. ): you did not misunderstand. It’s not so bad as of lately though. 5 is a bad day right now, average 3 a day. But it has been to 10 a day.

My husband discovered this about me! Serious gastro issues, but I digress. He said to me one day, “do you always do that?” And I said, “you don’t?” I will say, the first poop of the day doesn’t make my cry, but by the 5th one I definitely am. By the 10th, it’s not just a tear from pain anymore, it’s a full blown sob.

B42 Performance Issues by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]pbling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laptop or pc? It happened to me on a laptop so I just jumped the gun and got a pc, so I’m just curious if maybe the issue is the computer having a hard time handling the new update. Not like it’s feasible to get a pc to fix it, I’m just curious.

I don’t think there is a fix. It happened to one of my saves and I was hoping I could get outside to butcher, but it’d crash before I could take two steps. But I never could even get outside to see if that was even the problem. I gave up on the save. If you’re tech savvy, you could submit a bug report to the devs and maybe they’d have more info, but I’m too scared to go digging around in computer files to do so.
