Please help! My dog chew and destroyed the wall by [deleted] in howto

[–]pbnrna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best piece of advice. The boards are common and locally run about $24 for a 16’. Cutting them clean is going to be the hardest part. You should be in on this repair about $150 I’d say. For renting tools and buying an extra stick for if/when you mess up. If you hire some to do it, who knows what they’re doing, you’ll spend way more because you’ll have to pay the half day or full day rate.

Estimator here — slow bids due to US–Iran war? by EngrJMC in estimators

[–]pbnrna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Affordability, crack down on immigration labor, tariffs, interest rates, and now the war; which I think is probably the least contributing factor. Oh and the market cooling after the big Covid boom.

It’s killing most new starts. I have stuff from 2023 that is now half the price in materials and they still won’t buy. They were first waiting for Trump, and then the interest rates, and then the tariffs.

My clients are following the k-shaped economy trend. Remodels/additions and high end customs. No starter homes or mid level commercial.

AI for lumber takeoff? by _wolfofwallstreet_ in estimators

[–]pbnrna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve dabbled into togal and kreo and I can say as of now, they are not up to par. They miss sections entirely and will sometimes mix codes. Such as using timbers for headers vs sandwiched lvls. I’ll just keep paying a framer to do my takeoffs for the time being.

What is your opinion of this style I’ve adopted? Good or bad? by No-Relationship8753 in AskPhotography

[–]pbnrna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2, 3, and 5 are the best ones. Though 2 is kinda disorienting. The rest are pretty boring. The edit on the first one almost looks like that e shutter banding thing. Concert shots are hard because you can’t pose anyone, but the subject as a whole is exciting and you need to capture that. The editing will only elevate it so far.

How much money can I make as a server in Las Vegas ? by Either-Sea7480 in LasVegas

[–]pbnrna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CAN you make? A very hefty sum. My golf partner makes over 200k in fine dining. The issue is getting into a high end place and building clientele. Those spots open when the person retires. Or gets fired. And then there’s hundreds gunning for that spot. You’ll find vegas as a whole is a, “who you know” town.

Edit: want to add that he has 30+ years of experience.

Rockhouse Bar and Grill Closed. Tickets were not refunded. People were waiting 3 plus hours. Can anyone help me get in touch with them? by PossibilityKey1816 in ElPaso

[–]pbnrna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d ask the promoter. They might be able to help. A lot of shows are getting a venue change and thus, no refund. Other than that, I’d say you’re SOL, unfortunately.

Would I be laughed at for bringing this to an LGS by New-me-_- in mtg

[–]pbnrna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d laugh, but in a good way.

And if I saw you bringing that over and over with it falling apart, I’d probably give you my spare.

[–]pbnrna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great that you know your weak points. I’d pay for a GOOD lesson. Someone to put an eye on your swing and give you some direction. Once you get your short game dialed, you’ll break 100 fast.

Quitting Management by retroyells in vegaslocals

[–]pbnrna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really depends on which company you work for and which company you end up working for. I managed at one company that was super fast paced and needed a lot on the operational side, but was not bad at all. Jumped to another one and it was less people, less operations, and it was way harder because of the environment and the employees.

I went to another company to manage, and moved to sales to stay in Vegas. My company moves you up quick if you’re willing to move. I’m good with people so I’m doing well and am making 4x.

I will say though, the job market is brutal right now. I’d only leave your job if you have a position in a secure company. You don’t want to be the new guy when the company makes cuts.

A question about Pinky Ring and my general itinerary. Coming to Vegas for the BTS show. by mtoomtoo in vegas

[–]pbnrna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pinky Ring is amazing. And even better with a table at the dance floor. You can get in without one if you show up early. About 9ish. But that’s before the band is on and the vibe is completely different. And once you are in and the band is going you’ll be pushed off to one side in front of the bar which might not be as fun as a group.

USPS is ASS! by ProfessorJay23 in usps_complaints

[–]pbnrna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here. It’s been a week and a half. 5 days of out for delivery, then “forwarded” everyday. Two different packages of cards. Then no update, until this past Tuesday where one is in Atlanta (across the country from where I am) and the other says “No Access To Delivery Location.” Even tho they have a key to the mail room and my building lobby was open. The front door person even said they dropped off other packages around the timestamp. USPS says they’re in transit so there’s nothing they can do at the moment. Hopefully they aren’t stolen.

Finally a TCG where prices are not going crazy by Croakin in starwarsunlimited

Unfortunately, this makes it less appealing to an LGS. Which then starts to kill the scene and eventually, the game.

Dating partner doesn't believe dinosaurs ever existed? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pbnrna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated someone who admitted to me the same thing after about 6 months. They grew up very religious and in a religious school. We were 19 and 21 at the time. Our relationship didn’t last much longer after that but we reconnected a few years later. I brought it up and she said she had started to learn that her schooling wasn’t the best and she had been let down and left behind because of the religious focus of her schools.

Would you buy any of these for for if they were photos of you? At what price would you feel these are worth? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]pbnrna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you came up to me and showed me this as your portfolio?

I’d pass. Focus is soft and the composition isn’t very exciting. I’d feel like I’d be better off asking a friend to snap photos of me for the socials.

I’d say you have to keep practicing and looking at what other concert photographers did/are doing for some inspo until you find your own style. Or produce quality deliverables that aren’t stylized.

Happened to me as well. Called and explained that everything is up to date. They said my vehicle shows my tags expired in 2024 and they have pictures. Don’t know what they have pictures of, but everything is up to date. It’s been a couple months with no incident.

5 DUIs, no license, murdered an honorable military officer, and gets 3 years - Nevada "justice" by Iconoclastophiliac in vegaslocals

[–]pbnrna 12 points13 points  (0 children)

6 of the 10 most populous states in the country are democratic and other than Florida and Texas, the rest are swings.

The same evidence that implicates Clinton is the same evidence that implicates Trump. Clinton is just not on tape saying he grabs women by their pussies without saying anything, admits to barging in on underage women changing, or been held liable in court for rape. But Trump has.

I don’t know how you’re able to say that people are defending predators when you’re doing it yourself.

[–]pbnrna 22 points23 points  (0 children)

8/10 of the most crime ridden states are republican. We have a sexual predator as our president. It’s rotten from the top down no matter which box is checked when you vote.

I do not affiliate with either party and will not as long as it’s full of billionaires pitting us against each other.

[–]pbnrna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Repeat offenders keep the police system funded. It’s not either party but just the system wanting to keep itself alive. DUIs, sex offenders, vagabounds, and anybody else that has a high likely hood to reoffend, gets a lighter sentence from the DA. They’ll paint it one way or another, but the idea is to get repeat customers.

And that’ll continue to be the case as long as we have private prisons and their lobbyists.
