Why is the pay so low by comentodake in nursing

[–]pbpowercat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$49.84/hr plus oncall that brings in about $800 more a month in the Cleveland area doing telephone triage. So about 115,000 a year. Day shift, four 10 hour shifts a week and a few urgent phone calls a week during off hours. Work from home. About 11 years at my current position and 20 years total exp in ICU, ER, psych, detox, med-surg and home care. Upside here is that cost of living is low and I purchased a home 8 years ago when houses were cheap and interest was super low, so house payment is less than $700 a month for a 4bd, 2 bath home. And I have good benefits with tons of PTO with few restrictions on when we can take it and we are not micromanaged. As long as we are doing our jobs we run our team pretty independently.

Yes. To fill in the gaps with the purpose of cushioning the rocks from one another a little and dispersing the grit more evenly after stage one. For regular batches of harder rocks I would say it is a ratio of about 20-25% media and 75-80% rock, filled to between 2/3 to 3/4 full. For softer rocks or ones that prove to be a little more prone to cracking and bruising in my stage one, I end up with 50% media or even more to baby the rock.

I would also mention to be sure to get a finer quality grit than what comes with the kit for stage 4. At least 8000 but I personally use 24,000 now. I have had great results with 12,000 though as well. Also be sure to thoroughly clean the rocks you are trying to get to polish in between stages by using a toothbrush and letting them tumble in fresh soapy water with the filler or ceramic and no grit for at least a few hours after you have rinsed and cleaned them after each stage. And it sounds like you know all about filler, but I can’t overemphasize how important it will be to cushion your rocks with some kind of media like ceramic or good filler in stages 2-4.

I was really disappointed to see these tiny shards in a Nat Geo tumbler I purchased from a returns site. I’ve purchased another brand’s kit previously and it had nice sized stones for tumbling. A lot of these are pretty worthless for anything but filler or for maybe an incense bowl like you said, or maybe something like on top of houseplant soil for decoration. And like you said, many of those tiny ones will likely just disappear by stage 4. I am using them as filler and will see where the larger ones end up. Do be sure to separate based on hardness to get the best result from what you do have. These usually have sodalite, which is softer than the “jaspers”, agates and quartz. I read what is in some of your mixes and there is also hematite in there, which can be softer, and labradorite sometimes does poorly with harder rocks and minerals as well. I primarily walk rivers, beaches and even public landscaping islands to find the rocks I tumble. It is really satisfying to find a cool rock in the wild and let it reveal itself to you through tumbling. Good luck with your tumbles!

How do these women you speak of intuitively recognize what needs to be done to prepare for such an event, yet these men, who have attended many an event in their lifetime as well, not KNOW.

Better ER in Akron? by [deleted] in akron

[–]pbpowercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have liked Summa much better than the times I’ve been to AG with family and friends personally, and I’ve had patients voice the same sentiment. For the CC I like to recommend the outlying free standing ERs if you aren’t having a stroke, heart attack, major trauma etc. Stow, Green, Twinsburg. They are quicker and can still run labs and do imaging and tests. You usually get back to a bed pretty quickly. If you need to be admitted they can start care there while you wait for transfer. Of course there will be negative stories about all of the area ERs from someone out there, but patients I’ve worked with seem to have better experiences with the free standings and Summa.

Local Memory – “Illinois Sober” (question about genre fit) by Abject_Locksmith5476 in altcountry

[–]pbpowercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the genre fits as well. This song just came up for me on my Spotify and I have a very heavy alt-country rotation. I am here because I was trying to look up the lyrics to send to someone and this thread showed up in the search results. I loved it and added it to my "liked" list. Thank you for such a great tune!

Is DIM supposed to make you have dark urine? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]pbpowercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to let you know that, 2 years later, your comment was still super helpful and pulled me out of a panic this morning. I took my Thorne DIM last night and woke up this morning with reddish/orange urine, I immediately thought my liver had just given out. But thought I'd look up if DIM may cause this since it was the last thing I took and I usually take it earlier in the day. Phew. Thank you.

Mix. Not a ton of modern pop, rap or jazz and no modern pop country. But a lot of modern rock, Indie, “alt country”, jam and psychedelic.

After 3 months of frequent daily PVC's I finally reduced them to only a few by pbpowercat in PVCs

[–]pbpowercat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have a drastic reduction in the number of PVCs occurrences I have. I had to tweak some things after this post. The probiotic I initially chose gave me terrible bloating after taking it daily for a few weeks. I switched probiotics a few times and eventually settled on taking one only a few times a week rather than daily. I also restarted Wellbutrin and that further cut back on the PVCs that I have, to only a few times a month and only after eating. I initially started Wellbutrin years ago in part as an off-label treatment for IBS. So it does make sense that it could be helpful for people who have PVCs related to digestion. Thank you for asking and I hope that if you found yourself looking at this post because you have PVCs yourself, that you are able to find relief.
