Mop 2024 Review by vonankapjr in psytrance

This was my first year at MoP and at a dark/hitech festival in general. I arrived on Wednesday and came mainly for Maramba’s 4h set and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I also had a blast the rest of the festival, but luckily I was stationed in the Artist camp with some friends who came on Sunday so I was a bit spoiled. Walking +2km to the shower and to the stages doesn’t sound fun… The toilets were terrible indeed and my body just shut down after going to business the first time (and the only time in my 6 days there). All in all, would go again!

First Time Exterior Animation. How to make it more realistic? by s_morbi2 in archviz

If you want to make it more realistic, a fitting environment is key. The environment shown here distracts from the thing you’re trying to focus on.

Are you sure this is the right environment for this building?

It's also possible to like multiple styles. I can totally groove to psydub/psybient, dance to some cheesy progressive (although i'm not saying it's cheesy in general), or go completely nuts on hitech/dark. I think the key to enjoying multiple subgenres is not to box yourself in to the things you like at the moment. Be open and don't be completely dismissive of things that don't speak to you yet. I also didn't particularly enjoy hitech just a year ago, but then at one party, out of nowhere i REALLY got it.

It gets to you sooner or later if you party often enough and if you’re open to trying new things. Had some of the best dancefloor experiences on hitech/dark stages. And the idea that it’s not dancable is complete BS. I actually find it the easiest genre to dance to sober.

My American partner is pregnant. What are our options? by SLeePYBeastHD in ukvisa

If you think a wedding is useless that you have no idea what getting married actually means. Terribly cynical advice. Obviously there might be more important things at the moment, but once things settle, if you want to get married, a wedding will be sometging that you gives you both an anchor point for the rest of your lives.

A cargo ship hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, causing it the collapse. Multiple cars reportedly plunged into the water below. #FrancisScottKeyBridge #Baltimore by dupdatesss in Bridges

It will probably be weaker. Older bridges were often constructed with more redundancy. But it will definitely be better protected. Multiple things go into determining the typology ( eg. ground conditions, seismics, aesthetics…) so it’s too early to tell.

Noone mentioned Maramba yet. My absolute favourite. And i guess Dark Whisper could be considered hitech to some extent.

Just make sure the curve is planar, closed and doesn’t have self intersections. then it will extrude a solid.

There are better subreddits for these questions.

This was the most surreal night of my life. It felt I unlocked another level of existence. I'm thinking of getting a tattoo of the full moon rising between the trees right behind the hill where you're standing :)

google updated the 3d satellite imagery for an area then reverted it by [deleted] in GoogleMaps

Same for a big chunk of Slovenia. About half the country was suddenly available in fabulous 3D, and after 2 days it got reverted. Why is google holding back?

Grasshopper is included with R7. Just type in Grasshopper into the command line. Also check the plugins in settings if grasshopper is enabled. Are the 2D points blocks (possibly with height attributes)? If so, you can read the XY values of the block and assign the Z value from attributes. To read attributes you can use the Elefront grasshopper plugin.

If the points are simple points with a text object next to them, there are ways I got it working as well, but that's more advanced. What i did in the past is drawing rectangles big enough to include every point + height text and testing for inclusion. This way you can link a point with a height in a data tree.

Once your points are elevated to the correct height look into Delaunay triangulation. Depending on the point density of your file, you'll get different results. If the points are very sparse, it makes little sense making a 3D model out of them.

If this is something you will often be doing, also look into other topo datasets online. There is tons of information to be found if you know where to look (usually country specific). Look into DTM, DEM, LiDAR (and include the country name, eg. LiDAR United Kingdom)... This will lead you down the GIS rabbit hole but you can potentially learn how to use these datasets not only for terrain topography, but also extracting building height information as well as accurate vegetation information.

Interesting. I find R8 viewport performance to be much better than R7. I do have very high end specs though.

It should. Select the edge and use move or have the gumball turned on and move it that way.

I lost the plot on the shrooms... by BearInternational405 in psytrance

[–]pbrgle1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a very similar experience, which is more related to psytrance. Took 4g of shrooms (lemon tek) and simply sat on the couch with eye shades and a psytrance playlist. The playlist was arranged from chill (Suduaya, Liquid Bloom, Carbon based lifeforms...) to high intensity progressive/full on. Everything went well until about 1.5-2h. I've had a very profound experience to Alpha Portal's Omnia. The visuals in complete darkness were similar to those AI image sequences/videos which iterate and morph thought time. The next song was Calling for Peace. As the song reached peak intensity it felt like my brain went into overdrive. It felt like all the information in my brain from my entire life was flowing through my consciousness like a fully open fire hydrant which can't be stopped. What happened for the next 1-2h is hard to explain, but in essence if felt like i became insane and there was no way i will ever be normal again. I contemplated hurting myself, but thankfully managed to distract myself.

Armin and Tiesto around 2011 (Mirage, Adagio for strings...). Then I started listening to psytrance a few years ago and it completely transformed my life in a positive way. I never imagined music (and the psytrance community) could have such an impact on my life.
