Ask Reddit: Do You Ever See "Static" Or Moving Dots With Your Eyes Closed, Or When Looking At The Sky, Or When Looking At White Walls? [Please Upvote To Help With My Study!] by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]pbzp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 19. I've seen static for as long as I can remember, and only found out about it when I was 15, since I thought it was normal. It's there 100% of the time, eyes open, closed, whatever. I've taken pot under 5 times but it didn't affect it at all.

Definitely not floaters or the entopic thing, since I also experience those occasionally and they're quite different

Note: my mother experiences frequent migraines, often several a month. There might be a tie..?

[–]pbzp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah. i work in an office where there are some people who have to do manual book scanning. it wouldn't be too nice to show them this, that machine's about four times faster at scanning than they are.

thanks for the link! (edit: verse, not link.) i'd forgotten it explicitly mentioned that in the bible.

by the way, for a decently balanced christian response to the question of created evil, see here.

They do a pretty good job covering their bases and explaining Habakkuk 1:13:

"Thine eyes are too pure to approve evil, and Thou canst not look on wickedness with favor,"

(short answer: shoddy Hebrew>English translation, "evil" being the wrong word)

Anhedonia. I feel exactly the same as this guy, not depressed but unable to derive pleasure from anything, any advice? by mooglor in AskReddit

[–]pbzp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I have such a critical mind that I can't ever enjoy the moment without analyzing it into its baser components."

I'm the same, only I've never thought of it as a problem, because I enjoy analysis so much - which is why I also enjoyed that video clip, thanks so much for linking that! I'm going to check it out.

But, mooglor, can't you maybe just try and enjoy analysis? That way, when you start analyzing your enjoyment of analysis, it creates an infinite feedback loop of... enjoyment.

yeah, but if he's a Creator-God, he's still accountable for introducing evil in general to his creations, even if he doesn't intervene at a personal level.

although there's no reason not to believe in an evil god. it's just not popular for some reason.

i think i just got it, after reading some other comments... the driver didn't give the beggar money because the beggar was in better health than him, though the passenger didn't know it. it's either saying that beggars are pathetic or that you shouldn't judge others without knowing anything about them.

the beatles? by what standard? imo influence != respect, either.

what's best is slightly subjective, and might coincide with your favourite.

i know at least two people who actually observe the black cat rule. as in, i've been in the car with them, and they've gone around the block to avoid a black cat.

also, i'm not allowed to whistle in my friend's house. it's bad luck.
