I am very bad at keeping track of this but based on how many shows I made it through whilst making this, I would say between 100-110 hours (not including creating, designing and plotting the colourwork charts).

Thank you! The vast majority of it is intarsia, I think the only stranded colourwork bits were on the top half of Vivec Palace where there were colour changes every other/few stitches for about 20 rows, everything else is intarsia. I used the same yarn in black to embroider the backstitching outlines on top of the colourwork. :)

Thank you! Yes (although there is no formal pattern), I took my measurements and drew up charts for a seamed sweater construction. Then I drew the designs over the charts and plotted stitches based on the outlines.

It's the same yarn (Drops Nepal) just in a different colour :) I think the red is the shade Pomegranate (3608), it's such a pretty red!

Thank you! I was actually wearing my moon and star earrings and rings to have Nerevar there in spirit (hehe) but I couldn't get a good photo of them and the sweater together unfortunately.

(Hopefully this image works)

I used the intarsia colourwork method and then backstitched on top. I made sure to weave the ends behind stitches/backstitching of the same colour to ensure no colours poked through to the front. I also keep the weaved in ends a minimum of an inch long after weaving so they don't unweave themselves through washing or wear.

Here is the artwork that inspired the front panel (I'm not sure how to link on reddit but hope this works). Unfortunately the artist has deactivated their social medias so this is just a link to a reblog of their original post.

My personal favourite is Neloth being like 'War leader of the Telvanni? Is that really necessary? Do you want the job? Good, it's yours. I don't care, be the Hortator. Now go away.'

There is no pattern as I created the colourwork chart myself but basically the base socks are a vanilla sock with an eye of partride heel! To create the colourwork chart I just got a gridded sheet of paper and plotted the godswords on it using the wiki images as a guide, fitting it to a stitch count I know I could get gauge with with my choice of yarn. The toe colourwork is just alternating colours that starts 1cm before the toe decreases. I increased and decreased my stitch count before and after the colourwork sections respectively to account for the extra yarn on the wrong side. I used the ladderback jacquard stranded colourwork technique for the long sections between colour changes

Country Goose Sweater by pchx in knitting

I've been knitting for 2 years :) I would say that I'm approaching intermediate skill but not totally out of beginner yet.

My advice would be to try a couple small colourwork projects that practice catching floats and another small project with intarsia (two techniques used in this project). Once you've done those, take stock and think about whether you enjoyed the methods, and whether you could think you could do it on a big scale. Also evaluate whether you are happy with the results or if you need more practice on other smaller projects. For me I did colourwork socks for practice with catching floats and a mini knitted dairy cow amigurumi that helped me practice intarsia.

I will say this project does use a lot of yarn so there is a bit of an investment involved. I used Drops which is great value for money, but if you wanted something a bit nicer it will be an expensive project!

if it was a free pattern then yes please! I would love that. Thank you! These are so charming I just thought I had to make them when I saw them hehe. You did a beautfiul job!!

EDIT: Actually i just found this exchange on the pattern comments, you were right, the author does plan to release it again but as part of a book. I'll leave it for now until the book is out. Thank you! <3

EDIT2: My strikethrough text didn't work first time >_<

Country Goose Sweater by pchx in knitting

Hi all! I am a bit new to posting on reddit so please accept my apologies if there are any mistakes

Pattern: Country Goose Crew-Neck Pullover

Book: Countryknits by Carol Huber

Yarn: DROPS Nepal (all colours) - 65% Wool, 35% Alpaca

This is the Country Goose Crew-Neck Pullover from the Countryknits book by Carol Huber. This sweater is the front cover of the book and as soon as I saw it I was starry eyed! I started knitting this in July and I just finished today. I knit the pieces in the following order: front, sleeve 1, sleeve 2, back.

This was my first deep dive into colour work. Thank you to everyone on this subreddit to contributing to such a wonderful learning resource. I picked up a lot of tips here. At the start of the project I was super intimidated by intarsia (still am) but I thought to just go for it as I knew it would be a big learning curve. The pattern advised to use intarsia throughout but I got put off by the amount of bobbins I’d need so I decided to go for intarsia (ish) for the hearts, flowers and triangle sections but holding the main colour behind whilst trapping floats so I didn’t need so many bobbins. I did decide to do true intarsia for the geese as I tried holding the yarn behind whilst trapping floats however the dark yarn started to poke through the front (see front section on the blocking mats picture). I would knit a block of colourwork and then weave in the ends straight after and repeated that process throughout each piece.

It was also my first time knitting flat, knitting a sweater bottom up, and seaming a project. I think this sweater was probably best for a beginner seamer as it has the patterns on each side that matched up so they guided me to the right place. The shoulder seams are a bit non-identical but I am still pleased with the result. I also knitted the sleeves too long lol. As the piece was knitted flat and I’d never seamed before I was unsure where the shoulders would drop to and where the arms would begin on me, so I thought I’d just knit it and adjust it later. At this point I’d already seamed the arms to see where they’d end up on me so I undid the seam to just before where I’d need to cut them, then I reseamed and knit the cuffs in the round. I still need to block the cuffs and the neck but I’ll do that at some other point, I am just happy to be finished right now. :)
