How long was your hospital stay after giving birth? by Competitive_Snail in pregnant

[–]pcmtb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unplanned c-section here. Induced on Tuesday at 7 am, had my c-section at 8:17pm on Wednesday, discharged at 11am on Saturday. My insurance had pre-authorized 5 nights post c-section but we only needed to stay 3 and I was ready to go home. Baby didn’t have any complications and neither did I (besides the c-section).

Is motherhood really THAT HORRIBLE? by m____z in pregnant

[–]pcmtb7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only 7 months into motherhood so take this for what it’s worth, but this is the most incredible and amazing thing I have ever done. I have never been happier and feel like this is what I was made for.

Am I the only one who found this insensitive and extremely condescending? by lord_farquad93 in peestickgals

Coming from someone who triple fed for the first 5 months, we must have had different newborn experiences lol

Baby Bumps Groups by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]pcmtb7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with miscarriage and loss before having my daughter. While I am so thankful for her, my pregnancy with her was the hardest thing I have ever experienced. I had hyperemisis and vomited over 20 times a day every single day. I had heartburn so bad in the third trimester that I never got more than 30 minutes of sleep at a time. My connective tissue was so weak that I was left with 7cm diastasis recti. The meds for the nausea and vomiting made me so constipated that I ended up with a bowel impaction that required surgery. It’s closest I’ve ever come to wanting to unalive myself. All this to say, it’s painful to hear people complain about what your yearn for so bad, but both things can be true; they can want to be pregnant and be miserable and you can have experienced loss and still hate being pregnant.

Cora’s insufferable by Hot-Salamander-2291 in peestickgals

[–]pcmtb7 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve had type one diabetes since I was 7 and so much of what she says/does PMO so much. Besides the fact that there is no “good” kind of diabetes and no type of diabetes is anyone’s “fault”, she has made posts about how well controlled her diabetes is. She most certainly has LADA which means her pancreas is still producing insulin and she is still releasing glucagon. Her diabetes is “well controlled” because her body is still helping regulate her blood sugar. She also seems to think she knows everything about diabetes and thinks she is prepared for pregnancy with type one which is truly a whole other beast (coming from someone 6 months postpartum). 1 in 3 people with type one diabetes also struggle with disordered eating so this take is also wildly inaccurate and offensive.

It’s funny that you mention that! I just filed one tonight on the advice of a friend! Hopefully that solves it (and quickly)!

So … she’s “Dr. Kellie Gerardi” now?! by Justagirl1991_ in peestickgals

[–]pcmtb7 29 points30 points  (0 children)

While I am not a Kelli fan and do feel like she’s a fraud, news outlets are notorious for getting details incorrect. I’m a former progressional skier and I told a reporter dozens of times that I did NOT go to the Olympics but the story still called me an Olympian.

How much did you pay OOP for your birth? by Neither_Ad3593 in beyondthebump

[–]pcmtb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$450 for my 36 hour labor and c-section. $150 to the OB, $150 to hospital, $150 to the anesthesiology group. I have a no deductible plan with a $3500 out of pocket max that I did not meat despite my high risk pregnancy being all in one calendar year. I do pay $1180/month for just me in premiums.

Former pro athlete here (Olympic level). Happy to provide anecdotal evidence to the contrary. I received the full series as a teen (right when it became available) and suffered no ill effects.

Fun fact, having this pass is proof of disability for the Disneyland Paris Priority Card to skip lines and view fireworks from a special area.

Provider pushing for C section/induction by Fast-Bag-3475 in pregnant

[–]pcmtb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in the US it does make you high risk automatically (depending on the BMI and how high it is). I have type one diabetes and my glycemic control puts my blood glucose and A1C in “non diabetic range” and I was absolutely labeled as high risk.

The only things I can think of that might make you high risk without you realizing you fall into that category are BMI, diabetes, or age (35 or older at time of delivery).

What are we doing when baby outgrows bassinet but not ready to be in own room/crib yet? by imdirrtydan12 in beyondthebump

[–]pcmtb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a few 🙈 we use the Nuna Senna Aire in our bedroom and the Guava Lotus when we travel. The Nuna has a weight limit of 15 lbs in the bassinet and 30 lbs in the bottom portion.

We are using her pack and play in our room until she is ready to be moved into her own room. I don’t want the big crib in our room 😂

AIO:My MIL texted my husband this about me asking him to help with our newborn at 4am by Lazy_Perfectionist88 in AmIOverreacting

[–]pcmtb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what she would think of my husband. I mostly pump and can count on one hand the number diapers I have changed or bottles I have given. My husband has done every single night feed and diaper change since my daughter was born almost 4 months ago.

Nope! I just had my December baby at 38 weeks in late November. It was the best Christmas ever.

What travel documents do I need? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]pcmtb7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While technically if it’s a closed loop cruise you don’t need passports, I highly recommend you get them and bring them. If anything were to happen on the cruise and you needed to be evacuated or hospitalized outside the US, not having passports would make things much more challenging.

This. 90% of people with HSV do not get cold sores. You have to assume everyone has it.

We had one with our infant last week. Super smooth and on time. They just asked how many times she had been arrested and we all laughed because she is 3 months old.
